5.0 out of 5 stars Oh, I'm Glad, alright!, February 14, 2003
This review is from: The Acapella Project (Audio CD)
This is by far my favorite in my Christian music collection. There is not one bad song on here, I'm serious. I've got the whole album memorized. I can't even HEAR "Be Ye Glad" without crying. Not an overstatement, folks. These gentlemen take their music seriously, and it shows. This is a powerful compilation, with amazing vocals. It just doesn't get any better than this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Accapella, April 28, 2000

This review is from: The Acapella Project (Audio CD)
Intricate arrangements skillfully sung. "Be Ye Glad" and "The Reason" are timeless. I listen to these songs over and over. The difficulty of harmony and the accuracy of Glad's singing absolutely amaze me. A real treasure, particularly if you long for more musically sophisticated contemporary Christian music that carries a solid message.

5.0 out of 5 stars There will never be another reason....., January 13, 2001

Absolutely drop-dead unbelievable vocals! Nalle has to be the perfect singer for a group like this. Just listen to the guy go up for the high note in "The Easter Song." It's gorgeous, and it's reeeeeealy high! The man knows how to sing. "In the First Light" has a whole-song crescendo happening. It started in low, then it started to grow..... It's just great stuff, buy it, and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must-have for all singers, March 2, 2004

This review is from: The Acapella Project (Audio CD)
This album, which I originally owned on cassette, was formative in my adult appreciation of Christian music. It helped me to memorize the hymns 'Mighty Fortress,' 'O For a Thousnad Tongues', and 'Be Thou My Vision', and was my introduction to Keith Green (who wrote 'Easter Song'). A CLASSIC. Not just nice listening. This is a worship expreience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, September 19, 2000

Actually, the tape of Acapella Project 1 was one of my first introductions to Glad, and I have been a huge fan after I got hooked on this one. Their 2 latest CD's are absolutely awesome as well, in fact, they have improved a good bit. This one has some great tracks though, Amen is an awesome one, only one word used throughout the song, just incredible arrangement and harmony. If you are familar with Glad and have heard some of their others, you will NOT be disappointed with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritually Inspiring!, May 17, 2002
This review is from: The Acapella Project (Audio CD)
I was going through a tough period in my life when a friend loaned me this album. When I listened to the songs, I felt as if God was with me. I then started to read the Bible and eventually went to church. Listening to the album was the catalyst for my decision to become born again.

Glad - they are like God's own personal choir, with amazing vocals and harmonies. Great for your personal worship or quiet time. I can't recommend the album highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even if you don't yet speak, this music will touch you!, August 15, 2007
This review is from: The Acapella Project (Audio CD)
I purchased this tape when I was 13 years old and listened to it until it basically was worn out. Years passed, and I got married and had a baby girl. We were visiting my parents and I couldn't get my daughter to calm down before bed. I starting rooting around in the tape drawer under the stereo and found this tape. I popped it in, and my thrashing 1 year old was soon sitting calmly intently focused on this amazing music. I shocked myself that 13 years later I still knew every word. This album will become part of your life if you let it, and I agree with others that many of these songs still make my eyes water after all these years.

Eighteen years ago, my father-in-law gave me The Acapella Project cassette for Christmas. I loved it so much that I played it until the cassette literally fell apart, so now I have bought the CD. I can heartily agree with the other reviewers that every song is outstanding. When I imagine what the heavenly choirs will sound like, I think of "Amen," on track 9.

If you love spiritual acapella voices and are tired of gregorian chants, here's a cd that provides a welcome change. Glad, a Philidelphia based group who has been recording since the late 70's, combines the Gospel quartet sound with a nice light jazz feel. The result is a cd of beautiful acapella harmonies that make you want to get up and dance rather than put you to sleep like gregorian chants. If you must have one gospel album in your collection, this is the one. I love this cd and I'm not a fan of christian music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absoutely Stunning, September 17, 2000
This review is from: The Acapella Project (Audio CD)
I had a chance to see these guys a few years back and they floored me. I became more than just a casual fan. This album, one of three accapella projects they've done, is one of my favorites. The harmonies are just dazzling. As for the selection of songs, they are very easy to learn and sing along with. It's a shame that contemporary christian radio stations will not play this music once in a while. These guys, along with accapella, should be heard. Don't miss out. Buy this and enjoy.
