Jeff Scanlon is an independent Microsoft consultant with extensive experience developing software using a variety of technologies. He designs and implements software across all layers with a focus on web based applications. Jeff has lead developer training sessions on software engineering practices and introductions to new technologies at nearly every company he has worked. His current work includes prototyping applications using technologies such as Silverlight, Windows Communication Foundation and ASP.NET. His writing includes "Professional Java Programming with JDK 5" and its updated edition and articles on .NET in Software Development magazine. He holds several Microsoft certifications and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

None of the code works tht comes along with the book. Was not a good experience overall. Buy another good book. Save Money. Save time.

This book serves the purpose of getting started, I suppose. I already had a decent WPF background, so most of this book was wasted on me. There was not anywhere near enough detail or discussion on the limitations of Silverlight 3 vs WPF, for instance. I'm finding more limitations every day with my experimentation, but none of these were in this book. Also, I found the level of detail on most subjects too simple to be of much use for my purposes. For beginners, it's ok. For intermediate or advanced uses, I'd pass.
