After reading and being dissappointed by the other two books on accelerated stress testing (Hobbs and McLean), it was very refreshing to read this one. It is objective and very helpful. It gives a great introduction to the principles of AST. It goes on to give very specific recommendations about the steps in process and key details about different factors involved in performing the testing and subsequent analysis.Unlike the others, the reader doesn't feel like he is watching an infomercial, full of lofty claims with few hard facts to back them up. This book delivers on the details and leaves the conclusions to the reader. It is a bit dry and long, more like a textbook than the others, but in a positive way. If you are an engineer trying to sell management on the technology, give them Hobb's book. If you want to learn about AST, buy this one. |
