Editorial Reviews

The third album from Warmen is here, a true delight for fans of progressive metal, or simply well-crafted hard rock for that matter. The Children Of Bodom keyboardist Janne Warman has certainly upped the ante for bands playing technical metal music with his solo-albums so far, and there is no letdown on the third one either. Besides the lightning-fingered band mastermind himself, there are tons of amazing talent on display, delivered both by the permanent band members and an all stars cast of guest personnel. 9 total tracks. Spinefarm. 2005. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

2.0 out of 5 stars Warmen--Accept the Fact, November 16, 2007

I must say, this is the most inferior Warmen album so far. I agree with the previous reviewer that this album is not even remotely comparable to the two earlier albums in terms of composition, quality, musicianship, or production. As if the band came together one day and put some tracks together just to realease an album. It is certainly a disappointing piece of work for fans of Warmen accustomed to the calibre of Beyond Abilities and Unknown Soldier...we expect much more from you Janne...

3.0 out of 5 stars Accept the fact..is not his best work..., February 15, 2006
By

This review is from: Accept the Fact (Audio CD)
"Accept the fact" is Children of Bodom's Janne Wirman's third solo album under the name WARMEN...Personally, I couldn't find the greatness of previous albums in this one. It's too apathic, lacking of layers and emotions and, why not, happiness to say so...

The album never takes off, not even with the help of Timo Kotipelto, whose both songs "Invisible Powers" and "Puppet" seem to stay always in the second gear, without a distinctive touch that would make a difference. All the time with the same rhythm, waht makes the album a bit predictable and, sadly to say, boring in some passages...
Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against Warmen, completely the opposite. I'm a huge Children Of Bodom fan, and I also like his solo albums, but "Accept the fact" is too redundant...And if you allow me, the songs with vocals sound too simple for me, and that's the general feelling towards the whole album...too fast (only 39 minutes!) and too simple...

The album consists of 9 song, with 3 intrumentals (only) and 6 normal songs with vocals...The 3 instrumentals are quite similar in rhythm and vibe, without being extraordinary exceptional. Except for the eigth song "Return to Salieri", which is the highest point in the album and one of the highest of all his WARMEN projects. With very contagious riffs, speed, rhtyhm and keyboards, the song stands out in an opaque album.
The other albums have more instrumentals. Janne Wirman has more chances to show all his potential in his instrumentals, not in full length songs with vocals, so that's the reason why I believe he could have done a lot better (and more!).

Another high point is the seventh song "Lying Delilah", with a crushing and powerful guitar riff, with a heaviness hard to find nowadays, combined with the blasting guitars make a devastating formula out of this slow tempo but very heavy song, with orchestration in the middle.

The rest is for oblivion. If you want the best of Janne Wirman, his last two releases "Unknown soldier" and "Beyond abilities" will do it for you...
