Do You Have A Plan?

It is a rarity, in this age of political, economic and cultural distraction and confusion, to come upon a young person that writes with the wisdom of an elder. Such is the case with Sheik Charles Brown-El in his book "Accept Your Own and Be Free from Mental Slavery." At 27 years old, Sheik Brown-El, Chairman of the Moorish Science Temple of America, Subordinate Temple, Albany, New York, clearly explains the sometimes complex theological and historical foundations upon whichare the basis of the beliefs of the Moorish Science Temple of America, an often overlooked Islamic group. In fact, from the beginning of the book, the reader will notice that Sheik Brown-El's writing demonstrates his serious level of dedication and adherence to the upliftment of what the rest of us may refer to as "negroes," "Black," and "colored" people of America.

Not one to mince words, Sheik Brown-El implores the reader to adopt nationhood under the Moorish paradigm as explained throughout the book. He gives the history of the Moors from the earliest foundations on the African continent to the establishment of the Moorish Science Temple of America, under its founder Prophet Noble Drew Ali. Sheik Brown-El, influenced by the teachings of Noble Drew Ali, says that the Prophet has already provided us with answers to most of our dilemmas as he Brown-El, summarizes the tenants of the Moorish Science Temple. Most of the book may read as a drastic
ideology for non-Moors, however, he well documents that our condition is critical and that he hopes that the book will inspire the reader to make ''drastic" changes.

For those who are looking for this book to solely blame white[s] ... for the nihilism of Africans in America, Sheik Brown-El indirectly, but forcefully directs the attention on the ongoing mental confusion that manifests itself in incorrect actions. Sheik Brown-El advises the reader not only what must be done to reverse this condition but also, those steps that will lead to individual and group empowerment, never to return to the state dependence and servitude.

Some readers may take offense that the Sheik Brown-El strongly recommends readers consider giving Christianity back to Europeans, or when he pronounces the civil rights movement is misguided, however, there can be little argument when he advocates economic self sufficiency; encourages the development of our youth; or extols that our primary preoccupation should be in carrying out a plan.

Likewise, some readers may also have issues with Sheik Brown-El's proselytizing that most solutions are directly solvable by becoming a member of the Moorish Science Temple. Readers should consider that Sheik Brown-El has written a clear, concise work that recommends a way of life, Islam, but has submitted an ''agenda," no matter what belief system one is a part of. It is that focus; that mission, that most people are entirely devoid of. Sheik Brown-El is to be commended for having a plan. The question becomes do the rest of us have one?

It is wonderful to read a book like this! It is inspiring as well as inspirational to read something so clever from someone as young as the author. His views on the sickness of black people in America is extraordinary and very unique and it should be noted that as many people should read this book as those that purchase trashy novels that leave negative impressions on ones mind. I am loving this book and I read it all in one day. I RECOMMEND THIS READING TO ANYONE READING THIS REVIEW.

I have read this book 3 times already and I find it exceptionally, very easy reading for those who do not want to read a lot of pages of any type of book. I think the author is very knowledgeable of who the Moors are and who they are today. Very good work and anyone interested in learning about the Moors should definitely pick this one up.
