Very good first LP. Instant classics like "That's Rock'n'roll", "sounds of war" and "tired of me". Wouldn't pay more than $13 bucks for it, but any Accept fan should own this. Pass over their 2nd and buy this.

Accepts Debut,

The debut of german rockers Accept. This first offering finds the band sounding very much like their fellow countrymen Scorpions's early recordings.Much more melodic than what was coming down the road.Think early Deep Purple/Scorpions as what to expect....Standout cuts are Tired Of Me & Streetfighter. 3 stars

Early effort from Accept. A must if you are a fan. Raw and not as polished as later efforts but worth getting.

A heavy metal band from Germany, Accept made their debut as metal was about to enter into possibly its greatest and most influential era - a five year period covering the years 1978 to 1983 or so. The NWOBHM was bursting out of Britain and the continent would not be immune to this sea change in the deft use of power chords. In this period, Accept's debut contains some of the best of what the genre had to offer at this point - a shrieking front man in Udo Dirkschneider and a talented frets man in Wolf Hoffmann. Much of Accept's early sound indubitably owes more than a passing nod to fellow countryman Scorpions who had been plugging their trade for most of the decade before Accept committed themselves to wax. "Lady Lou", "Tired of Me" and "Sounds of War" capture the true spirit of the power metal madness that was to come while mid-tempo or milder tracks "Take Him in My Heart" and "Glad to Be Alone" showed some diversity of sound. Bassists Peter Baltes made vocal contributions on several of the early Accept records and while he usually sings the slower stuff he does scream along with Udo in "Sounds". Overall I am impressed with this early effort from one of metal's unsung bands from the glory years of the early to mid `80's before commercial rock radio stifled the creativity of many heavy bands - Accept included.

When I first got this album I was 13 and I never heard of accept,I just thought the artwork was cool.a woman with a huge chainsaw! I gotten rid of it but over the years kept going back and buying it again just to get rid of it again and why? udo is one of those singers you like or don't,quite bad in my opinion.and this album is aweful as well but it is classic music.lady lou, sounds of war,and that's rock n roll were the best tracks on the album, other ok songs are seawinds, free me now and tired of me. this is something all metalheads should check out but I wouldn't pay nomore than 10 dollars for it.
and restless and wild is a good song, maybe the only song that accept have recorded that's really any good. |
