4.0 out of 5 stars One of the better category regencies, February 20, 2004
I grade category regencies differently than the longer historical regencies. As a rule, I expect less from the categories. Jeanne Savery delivers a pretty well-written category here, with a very intelligent, humorous heroine, a hero who meets all the required criteria (handsome, intelligent, rich & titled), good secondary characters, and a pretty nasty villain. It was an enjoyable read, probably worth the cover price, but if you are looking for heart-stopping romance in a category (meaning without the heavy sexual content), buy a used copy of Savery's 'A Lady's Deception,' which is, in my opinion at least, one of the top five category regencies ever written (outside of Georgette Heyer, of course). I must add one thing about this book that is very important to me, at least, and the reason I gave it four stars: you really know why these two people fall in love. They both act intelligently, have a mutual sense of the ridiculous, and enjoy an attraction that is based on much more than sexual appeal.
