This review is from: Accepting The Boss's Proposal (Harlequin Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Accepting the Boss' Proposal by Natasha Oakley
Harlequin Romance # 3913 - September 2006
Jemima's marriage had ended 3 years ago when her husband had declared that he no longer loved her. With the divorce final for over a year, Jemima's on edge at her first real job since her marriage. It's only a temp job, one to get her back in the swing of things, but she's overwhelmed with how desperately she needs this to work. Not only because the money is needed for her two boys, or the ever growing house and car repairs, but for her self-esteem and independence from her family. Miles Kingsley is not the older gentleman boss she'd been expecting. He appeared to be about 35 and devilishly handsome, and so "darn sure of himself". Things get complicated when it turns out that Miles is to be best man to Jemima's bridesmaid at their mutual best friends' wedding. Seeing Jemima with her hair down literally, intrigues Miles and now he can't stop noticing the curve of her legs or spark of amusement in her eyes. And when he plays Sir Galahad and gives her a lift home, he gets a view into her life and the struggles and sacrifices she's had to make practically raising her boys on her own. And though he's vowed never to marry and have children of his own, he's perplexed by his need to help make her life easier.
This is by far the wittiest yet of Ms. Oakley's books. What a delight! Jemima has a wicked sense of humour and lets Miles see that she's not at all impressed with his devastating good looks or flirtatious manner. Watching how Jemima would do anything for those she loved makes Miles yearn for more in his life. Though filled with many laugh out loud moments, this is a heartwarming love story. One I know I'll be happy to read again and again! :D
