Boston Map How to Use This Guide

A great deal of care has gone into the special organization of this guidebook, and we believe it represents a real breakthrough in the presentation of travel material.

Our text is divided into four basic sections in order to present information in the best way on every possible aspect of a vacation to Boston. Our aim is to highlight what's where and to provide basic information--how, when, where, how much, and what's best--to assist you in making the most intelligent choices possible.

Here is a brief summary of what you can expect to find in each section. We believe that you will find both your travel planning and en route enjoyment enhanced by having this book at your side.

Getting Ready To Go

A mini-encyclopedia of practical travel facts with all the precise data necessary to create a successful trip to Boston. Here you will find how to get where you're going, plus selected resources--including useful publications, and companies and organizations specializing in discount and special-interest travel--providing a wealth of information and assistance useful both before and during your trip.

The City

This individual report on Boston offers a short-stay guide, including an essay introducing the city as a historic entity and a contemporary place to visit; a Boston At-a-Glance section that's a site-by-site survey of the most important, interesting, and unique sights to see and things to do; Sources and Resources, a concise listing of pertinent tourism information, such as the address of the local tourist office, which sightseeing tours to take, where to find the best nightspot or hail a taxi, which shops have the finest merchandise and/or the most irresistible bargains, and where the best museums and theaters are to be found; and Best in Town, which lists our collection of cost-and-quality choices of the best places to eat and sleep on a variety of budgets.

Diversions

This section is designed to help travelers find the best places in which to engage in a variety of exceptional experiences, without having to wade through endless pages of unrelated text. In every case, our particular suggestions are intended to guide you to that special place where the quality of experience is likely to be highest.

Directions

Here are seven walks that cover Boston, its main thoroughfares and side streets, and its most spectacular landmarks and parks. We also suggest a drive to the nearby, history-rich towns of Cambridge, Lexington, Concord, and Lincoln.

This review is from: Access Boston 5e (Paperback)
This is one of the most helpful travel books I have read. It explained things in a detail easy to understand. I am buying my second book on Boston, to send to my out-of-town family, so they can also enjoy this great city.
