I saw the other negative reviews and was very surprised. This book has been a wonderful tool. I was comfortable with QUE books and purchased a QUE book on ACCESS 97. I hated it. I purchased this book and found it to be everything I needed. It is a true comprehensive reference book. I can look up what I am having trouble with and go to that section to have my problem answered. Not so with the QUE book I had. I highly recommend this book!

I own a number of Access 97 books at different levels from teach yourself up to the Developers Handbook. This is the book I have found to contain the least useful information. Do yourself a favor and look at other books.

I bought this book because I've been very pleased with other "Unleashed" titles.

However, I have to agree with the other reviewers here. The index is lousy and I haven't yet been able to find what I need. I've been trying to find out how to use the "Filter by Form" toolbar button and I haven't found it either in the Index or table of contents.

Next time I'll read the Amazon reviews first (like I usually do)!

I don't understand why this book has received so many bad reviews. I personally find it to be a comprehensive easy to read reference guide. It is most helpful when I need to resolve syntax issues without going into unnecessary explanations or details.

If you are looking for an introductory level tutorial or a self teaching book, then I don't think that this is the book for you.

The true value of this book is when it is used as a reference guide, I believe that it is one of the best on the market.

Very poorly organized...just like some high school kids putting together a report. If you are a beginner, don't ever buy this book! Although it claims to make one a master of Access.

I bought Access 97 Unleashed (Second Edition) without the CD for $39.99. Unfortunately I coundn't find any live example with live data that explain the point or show the How To. Tens of pages goes by listing of function, statements, etc ...with no dialog box, query, table, to illustrate the concept. Even when there was a dialog or illustration, it was very dark and unreadable. In addition I couldn't find any mention to StripTab control. I'm very unhappy with the book and with my choice.

The book is written and reads more like a novel than a technical how-to guide and reference. The material is very basic and does an incomplete job introducing these basic concepts. I have found it to be very weak as a learning tool or reference tool.

The book does a good job covering the basics, but when you are looking for how to do this or that the book falls very flat. The book does a good job at defining terminology, but it will not be very useful for a developer

This book presents almost no useful information. I got taken. Should have read the other reviews before I bought.

I'm an intermediate user of Access 97 and was hoping to get a good technical reference source from Access 97 Unleashed so I can start designing my own applications. This book is organized very poorly and has literally no examples to illustrate the concepts. I agree with the previous reviewers -- this book is not worth the money. I found myself reverting back to the online help.
