Thieves can knock over banks so recognize that this unit simply serves to delay and frustrate... ideally you should couple this with other home security measures.Pro: -Heavy duty... this thing has some heft to it -Easy to install, 4 screws/hardware included -Holds a lot of keys, but I think 30 would be a little crowded especially if you put a ring of keys in here (but it's doable to hang 30 keys in here-just note the limitation on size) -Has a place for key on the back of the door, plus you can set some keys (or other things) inside on the bottom -Code can be more than 4 digits -I think this is the same unit featured on the TV show "It Takes a Thief" -Code was extremely fast and easy to set (and would be fast and easy to change) Con: -Color leaves a lot to be desired... a lot darker than pictured too -Can use each number (0-9) only once in the combo -It was a little difficult to see the lock codes as they were being set, so be sure to have good light and your glasses -If you have a lot of junk on your keychain, you'll have problems fitting your keys into this box Bottom Line: Decent for smash and grab robberies, might as well make it harder. Recommended for use with other home security products such as an alarm, charlie bar, etc.

We love the fact that you can lock up all your keys in this box. It makes us feel more secure. Is very nice to keep extra sets of keys in and to keep your keys in when you are not home.I didn't have too much to complain about the color. We just have it in our garage so it is no big deal. If you were going to have it in the house out in the open, then the color would probably be annoying. Installation of the entire system ("2-key" key box AND this device) took about 20 minutes total. It wouldn't have taken that long if we hadn't poked a hole in the drywall where we were going to put one of the screws :P Setting the combination was much easier that I would have thought. The hardest part was figuring a combination that was secure, but easy to remember. While setting the combination was easy, the combination is also the source of my only complaint. My main complaint with this is the same as with the GE AccessPoint 001413 Slimline Pushbutton 2-Key KeySafe. The sequence of numbers for the combination doesn't matter. "1 - 2 - 3 - 4" could also be "4 - 3 - 2 - 1", etc. I didn't want to have to pay a lot for this (and really couldn't find one that had this feature) so this will work out fine. I would definately recommend for about anybody to get this device. It is very handy and much better than laying the keys on the dresser, table, or where ever you can find a spot. An added bonus is that you always know where those keys are and don't have to tear the house down looking for them when you need to get out the door!

Great for Workplaces.,

I bought this key safe for my workplace and find it is great to use for that. I don't need to keep an extra key just to open a box to get to the other keys! I spent an entire weekend looking for a keyless entry key safe for a reasonable price and this was the only one I found. There were others similar, but more expensive and I believe they used the same safe and named it something different to sell on their own sites. The least expensive I found for this model was here on Amazon (in March 2007). Save yourself the trouble, just get this if you're looking for a keyless pushbutton key box. This is a great key box for many reasons: 1. No key is needed, just punch in a code on the push button combination on the front. 2. It holds 30 keys (although that many is a little crowded) and has #d key rings to attach to the keys. 3. It holds about 10 keys on the inside of the door itself. 4. It is a sturdy metal box, not a thin metal one like at retail places like office max / depot, etc. and comes with mounting hardware. 5. I use it at my workplace where only a few people can have access to certain keys. Those keys go in this box and I didn't have to worry about handing out keys. If someone leaves, I can change the combo easily. 6. The combo was easy to set and is easy to change, just a couple of minutes. I noticed some reviews mentioning home use and I agree that if someone really wanted to, they could break into this, after all, they could just pull it off they wall and do what they needed to it. But I think most of us realize a $60 lock box isn't the last line of defense, or should be. It's best used in a trusted area to keep people from having the opportunity to take the keys that aren't locked up in the first place.

Touchpoint = Cheap,

I've had this box for about 18 months. It is great to have all of my keys in one spot. But, as other reviewers have experienced, the Touchpoint lock is a piece of junk. The top two buttons (1 and 6) are now free-floating. I can push them and there is very little resistance and no click of the buttons locking in place. Needless to say, I am now locked out of my key-box. Guess I'll find out just how secure it is as I bust it open to get my keys.

As one of the previous reviewers noted, the locking mechanism broke - it was within 2 months of use for us which was disappointing. The keys were locked in and my husband opened the box with a hammer and a screwdriver (which ended up being surprisingly simple to do). He took it apart and found that the gear chamber was very thin and had worn out! But on the plus side, it was great having all of the keys in one place and it was very easy to use.

30-Key Cabinet,

This has allowed me to finally get all my spare keys organized and secured in the house. It's not very pretty to look at, but I mounted it in a room that's reserved for my cats'/rabbit's litter boxes. Not too many people go in there so it's rarely seen by people who come in. If you have a room beautifully decorated, this would be considered an eyesore in my opinion, but tucked away in a room not used or even inside a closet would work out just fine. It's very easy to use and feels more solid than I had expected. I believe it would be pretty difficult and time consuming for a person with less than good intentions to break open.

If you're looking for security, don't buy it.,

If you're looking for security, forget it. Stick a pry bar in the side and it's open in a matter of minutes. But, this is the option that most people have. However, I just found the Buddy Electric Key Safe Cabinet model 3221-32 that's a bit more expensive, but definately secure. It's built like a safe... a necessity to protect your keys from a determined theif. It's equipped with two bar locks instead of a tiny metal latch. Plus the hinges are concealed. I found the best price on Sam's club website, but it ranged from $100-$200 when I googled it. This GE type of key cabinet built with a metal latch is nothing better than a heavy duty storage cabinet for your keys. I wanted security and storage. Bought the Buddy Key Safe instead. Much happier.

Great idea, poor quality parts,
This review is from: GE AccessPoint 001795 TouchPoint 30-Key Cabinet, Clay (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this unit as I wanted to stay away from the electronic units. For the first 4 months of use, it was great. But then the keypad "broke". It appeared one of the numbers was always "pushed". Luckily it was part of my code, so I could get into the safe. After taking the keypad apart, here is what happened. There is a flat plastic piece, similar to a tree branch. Solid down the middle and little "branches" that go in between the push buttons. The top broke off, so the number 1 and number 6 are eternally in their "what it was when it broke" position. Since this seems to be a quality issue (if I get a replacement safe, I would assume the new one would break in the same place)...I have to give it a low rating.

GE AccessPoint 001795 TouchPoint 30 Key Cabinet,
This review is from: GE AccessPoint 001795 TouchPoint 30-Key Cabinet, Clay (Tools & Home Improvement)
Very easy to install and use. The cabinet appears to be well built and is heavy for its size. The cabinet auto locks when you close it. Setting your pass code is very easy. The key numbering for each hook and corresponding key chains are great to quickly identify where the key goes back in the cabinet. It also comes with a chart to write down the key number and location of the lock. I made a copy of the chart so I can redo it at a later time if my keys change. The 30 key cabinet means it has 30 numbered hooks. There is plenty of room to hang multiple keys on the hooks. A car key with the alarm tag can easily hang in the same spot. Cabinet even has some extra room on the bottom so a couple key cases can also fit. I fit well over 55 keys by doubling up keys into the cabinet using both their key tags and my own key rings. Two drawbacks that I see. First, the combination you select can be used in any order. For example, if you select 1234 as your code, then 2314 will open the cabinet. The lock does have 10 numbers so guessing the combination could take some time. I doubt a typical thief would waste their time trying to guess the numbers. Second, the space between the rows of keys coule be longer. There are 3 slots that do have longer spaces so this is really only an issue when you want to still use you own key rings on more than 3 hooks. despite these two issues, I do recommend this product and am happy I purchased it.

Touch pad broke - less than a year old,

This review is from: GE AccessPoint 001795 TouchPoint 30-Key Cabinet, Clay (Tools & Home Improvement)
The touch pad lock broke with less than a year of infrequent use on it and all my keys were locked inside of it. In desperation I took a large screwdriver to it and pried the door open. It is not as secure as I had hoped and not as reliable as I expected. I have ordered a Buddy Electric Key Safe Cabinet (BDY322132) as a replacement.
