This review is from: Accidental Alphabet (Paperback)
Ever since Graeme Base turned me on to alliterations with his Animalia calendar and book, I enjoy any book like this. The review above by the School Library Journal sums up the book well, though I would add that people as well as animals stumble through this book of short alliterative poetry of their misadventures. The hidden letters in each page of illustrations & the questions asked at the end teach children to be observant & to look again at the illustrations with a medieval touch.
I give this book a 4-star as some of the rhymes and alliterations are slightly weak, and can't quite compare to the genius of Steven Kellogg, the master of alliterative goofiness. |
