Book Description

Millionaire Mark Raynor's family keep trying to find him a wife, so he invents a fiancée in order to keep them quiet. But when he pays them a visit, he finds that his "fiancée" is already there. He wants to expose her for the fraud she is, but that will mean coming clean about his lie. And Mark isn't ready to do that just yet.
For Anna, finding herself welcomed by Mark's family is comforting, because she has lost her memory following a car crash near their house. But Mark doesn't seem pleased to see her and she is tempted to leave.
Except that she is overwhelmingly attracted to him. And he to her . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars To Right a Wrong March 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The wrong person at the wrong place at the wrong time describes Anna's predicament as Mark Raynor's fiancée. After a near fatal accident, Anna found herself not remembering who she was while in the care of Emmy and Claire, who insisted that Anna was "Annabelle", their nephew Mark's concert pianist fiancée.

Unknown to the three women, "Annabelle" was just a person that Mark made up so that his aunts would not play matchmakers while he was on vacation at Little Brook. Not wanting to hurt his aunts' feelings, Mark went along with the mistaken identity of "Annabelle."

But someone knew who Anna really was. And though a mutual attraction had developed between Mark and Anna, trust issues have to be resolved between the two before they could move on.

***MY TAKE ON THE STORY***
The premise is common enough - an amnesiac falling in love with someone when their past was a complete mystery to them. Even the poor girl/rich guy cliché was there; and of course, the very lovable but quite meddlesome aunts. Even the beautiful other woman and the positively evil other man.

But, the book still turned out to be an enjoyable and awesome read. The author fleshed out the characters very well that you can actually see and hear Emmy and Claire fussing on their favorite nephew. Anna's amnesia, which was the center of the story, was not seen as a handicap but as a chrysalis that held the beautiful person that Anny was truly was.

Mark's ambivalence was also real. An attraction he cannot deny, a gut feel that told him Anna was for real but logic dictated that he did not trust her.

Another thing that struck me was the timelessness of the story in terms of being "contemporary.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have used more depth March 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Even though the premise of this story is one that has been written before, the author did a decent job of creating her story. The beginning of the book set the stage as Mark, our hero, is discussing his made up fiance, whom he gave the awful name of Annabelle, with his friend Roger. Roger sees a problem where Mark doesn't seem to see one. Mark has created his fake engagement to keep his endearing aunts Emmy and Claire, who like to play matchmaker, from parading ill-suited women before him.

Enter the problem. "Annabelle" has a wreck not far from Little Brook, the home of Mark's aunts, that has left her with amnesia. The aunts take her in and find the initials AC on her luggage. They assume she must be Mark's fiance. With not much memory to go on, Anna allows this to happen. The problem develops when Mark visits and realizes that instead of the invented person, he now has a flesh and blood fiance to deal with. He suspects she is trying to manipulate him for her own gain as she must have found out his plan. This Annabelle even plays piano which is a major coincidence since the fiance he invented is a concert pianist who is supposed to be away on tour, the reason he gave for her not being able to meet his aunts.

Mark and Annabelle get to know each other over the course of a few chapters. Anna has vague recollections of her past, not enough to give her actual clues, but enough to make her feel they had to be sinister. The clues come from the sheet music she has with her in her luggage. Then the H/h are invited to a party where she gets to show her talents as a pianist much to Mark's surprise. His female friends play catty games trying to make Annabelle look bad but Mark sticks up for her even though he doesn't know why.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the read March 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I agree with Sheiglagh's review. While an ordinary plot it was told with great charm. The romance unfolded nicely and you could understand why they were attracted to each other. I also appreciate that once the "dilemma" was revealed it was quickly resolved without a lot of unnecessary and dragged out drama. I've just purchased her other book and hope its as good. Definitely recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars not very good June 22, 2012
By sdc2010
Format:Kindle Edition
It took a lot to read this book, i kept putting it down, it really dragged, the "hot guy" was so moody (love her hate her). The main character was awkward. I am not sure if it was the editing or just the way the story was written but sometimes it was hard to tell who was speaking or whose mind you were in. The book had potential but this was not the way to show it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad story June 20, 2013

I quite enjoyed this book but the story was only short but as it was reasonably priced I am not complaining. If you want an easy book to read that doesn't have too much depth then you will enjoy this one. I think the author has good potential.

3.0 out of 5 stars decent read December 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
the good news is-its a stand alone book, not an installment issue. yay. its basically an old plot, written well enough to keep reading. again yay. there were no glaring format or grammar issues. not a classic, but a pleasant read. wouldn't want to pay much for it, but i kept it on my kindle for a possible reread.
