Book Description

July 1, 2003
A head-on collision with burned-out rodeo star Reid Alexander is the last thing actress Cammi Carlisle needs! Pregnant, widowed and considered a "has-been," Cammi is returning to her family's Texas ranch in search of forgiveness. Little does she know that Reid wants her forgiveness....

Though there's sizzling chemistry between them, Reid knows a relationship would never work. Unbeknownst to Cammi, Reid was the one driving the pickup that killed her mother years ago. Even though it was a tragic accident with no one at fault, how will she ever forgive him when he can't even forgive himself?

More About the Author

At last count, popular Inspirational author Loree Lough had 82 award-winning books (more than 3,000,000 copies in circulation), 67 short stories, and 2,500+ articles in print.

The oft-invited guest of writers' organizations, colleges and universities, corporate and government agencies in the U.S. and abroad, she loves sharing learned-the-hard-way lessons about the craft and the industry. Loree has traveled coast to coast and border to border, appearing on national, regional, and local TV and radio shows.

Although this once-upon-a-time traveling troubadour refuses to say when, exactly, she traded her Yamaha for a wedding ring, she IS willing to admit that, every now and then, she blows the dust off her six-string to croon a tune or two. But mostly, she just writes (and writes).

Loree and her husband split their time between a home in the Baltimore suburbs and a cabin in the Allegheny Mountains, where she continues to perfect her taleant for identifying critter tracks. Her favorite pass time? Spending long, leisurely hours with her grandchildren... all seven of them!

She loves hearing from her readers, and answers every letter, personally. You can write her @ http://www.loreelough.com, where "If you're patient, you'll hear some hauntingly beautiful music!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Fate Takes a Hand, July 8, 2010
This review is from: An Accidental Hero (Accidental Blessings Series #1) (Love Inspired #214) (Mass Market Paperback)
When Reid Alexander was just a kid he broadsided Rose London when she ran a red light. It was dark and stormy and Reid was only fourteen, driving with a special license on his way to get medicine when it happened. Rose died in the accident and her husband Lamont blamed Reid, called the boy a murderer, said he took his little girl's momma away, though the accident clearly wasn't Reid's fault.

Years pass and one of those girls has grown up. She is Cammi Carlisle, coming home after a failed attempt to make it as an actress in Hollywood. She runs the same red light and as fate would have it, Reid broadsides her. Fortunately nobody is hurt.

Sparks fly between these two damaged people. The man who raised Reid is terminally ill and that tests Reid's faith, as has that accident all these years. Cammi is pregnant, but without a husband as the two-timing rat had been killed in an accident with one of his girlfriend shortly after they'd been married.

Can Reid finally find happiness and can he find it with the daughter of the woman who had died that fateful night when he was a child? And can Cammi forgive him when she finds out that he was the other party in that accident?

I like inspirational romances, but I like the inspirational part to be a little more in the background. For me the romance should be front and center. It's okay to quote from the Good Book, but I believe it should be kept to a minimum. Too much gets in the way of the story in my opinion and I think that perhaps Ms. Lough relied a little too much on the Word and also a little too much on coincidence. Still it was a very good story.

4.0 out of 5 stars My 1st inspirational romance, December 7, 2004

This is the first "inspirational romance" that I've read, so I can't really say whether or not it lived up to my expectations, because I didn't really have any.

Overall I liked the story. I liked that it was inspirational and not so over-the-top cheesy romantic. I felt like I could identify with the characters;I found myself caring about what happened to them and wanting to find out how they would resolve things. It did seem to end rather abruptly though. I would have liked to see a little more in-depth resolution of Reid and Cammi's "issues", because they had a lot of guilt and heartache to overcome.

I got all excited when I saw that there was another book in this series, but then found out that the next book is about Cammi's sister, so unfortunately I don't expect to find any continuance of Reid and Cammi's story any time soon. I would still recommend this book if you are a fan of inspirational romance. This one has drawn me into the genre and I can't wait to read my next one.
