5.0 out of 5 stars True Love...Great Story
This was a really great story. It was a diversion from the typical historical and I thought it was very well done. I was quite surprised at some of the negative reviews because I thought this was an exceptional love story...quite adeptly making a long-term romance sexy, which many authors fail to do - often a bore after the first two love scenes. Great read, worth the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hero wasn't much of a guy!
I like this author a lot, but this book was a real disappointment. After reading the first book in this series and all Tracy Ann Warren's previous books, I was expecting this book to be of the same quality. It was, however, trite, boring, and completely uninteresting. The worst part, in my opinion, was the "hero" of the story, who had been introduced in a previous...

I like this author a lot, but this book was a real disappointment. After reading the first book in this series and all Tracy Ann Warren's previous books, I was expecting this book to be of the same quality. It was, however, trite, boring, and completely uninteresting. The worst part, in my opinion, was the "hero" of the story, who had been introduced in a previous book, but who turned out to be kind of a lousy guy, making me wonder why the main character, Lily, would even be remotely interested in him. Read the author's other books, but skip this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Accidental Mistress, February 16, 2009

This review is from: The Accidental Mistress: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Lily Bainbridge has had enough of her life with her stepfather. Her mother, the only link with him, is now dead. Lily stages her own death and escapes to London, dressed as a boy, to a life of freedom. On the way, she meets up with Ethan Andarton, who is the only person to see through her disguise and he thwarts her plans. But once they reach London, she leaves him and does not expect to see him again.

Ethan Andarton, by a quirk of fate, is the Marquis of Vessey. For family duty he has agreed to a marriage of convenience, a marriage that will allow him to continue in his previous life as a rake quite freely. When he meets Lily, he is intrigued enough to want her for his mistress.

As time progresses, both Ethan and Lily realize they want more than just an affair - they want forever. They just have to find a way to be together when fate and parents try to keep them apart forever.

The Accidental Mistress is not a book that wants to be put down once started. Lily is perfect, instead of whining about what is wrong in her life, she goes about fixing her problems on her own without waiting for life to give her `her due' as so many historical books seem wont to do. Lily fast became one of my favorite historical characters of all time. Ethan was spoiled and aristocratic, which given the time period made sense. As The Accidental Mistress progressed, both Lily and Ethan developed and fought with themselves and their future. The only problem I had was the suddenness of one plot twist, which I felt could have been developed a bit more. That said, I totally enjoyed how this twist and the book as a whole ended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read, December 10, 2007

I really enjoyed this book. The interaction between the hero and heroine was touching, funny and clever. You can feel the heroines struggle between the pages. The hero, Ethan - well he's just a hunk and a half. Very cool and masculine. He rises to the occasion (wink wink) and meets the challenges thrown at him by the heroine. And the love scenes are sizzling.

Thumbs up for Miss Warren.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't help but love the heroine!, October 10, 2011
When given the choice between death and marriage to the squire, Lily Bainbridge finally realizes she has no choice but to commit suicide - or at least make it appear that she did. Lily barely manages to survive making her escape but her plans weren't for naught and she narrowly esapes death - and her step-father.

Dressed as a boy, Lily manages to make it nearly to London without anyone looking past her disguise to the lady underneath but a chance encounter with a man who makes her insides quiver begins Lily thinking that maybe not all men are the same. Will this man be able to change her mind before someone finds out that she's not quite as deceased as she'd have them believe?

I loved this story so much! It was such an adventure, with happiness, sadness, love, drama, and real heartfelt emotion. It was not boring at all, the characters were so perfect and likable, the writing was classic Warren to perfection - I could find no fault with this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, January 27, 2010
This review is from: The Accidental Mistress: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I really like this book. I actually started this book before I realized that it was the second in a series. I am now reading the first book and wish I had read them in order. I kinda already know some of what happens with them but it should be a pretty good read.
