Not one of Greiman's best,

This review is from: Accidental Seduction, An (Avon) (Mass Market Paperback)
I kept yelling in my head to the author, as I read this book, "Either make the book longer so you can develop the story better, or fight with your editor for hacking the original to shreds." This book does not even seem like Greiman wrote it. I have read many of her Scottish Historical Novels and enjoyed them. However, in this one the dialogue was stiff and the story was absolutely disjointed. This is very unlike Lois Greiman's other books. I am very disappointed. It was so bad that I got to page 190 and the couple still hardly knew each other, but they had a really weird sex scene. I checked the page number and thought, "I still do not know what is going on in this story yet!". The characters had interesting beginnings, the idea of two sisters separated in early childhood and one being given to the Gypsies, and a hero who is not the "Irish stable hand" but has revenge on his mind are all things that SHOULD make a great romance novel. But unfortunately, there is way to much short fractured, clipped dialogue with not enough "story set-up". The reader does not ever really get to become emotionally invested. I have to say again, it doesn't seem like Lois Greiman wrote it or some editor became way to over-zealous and ruined it. Whatever the reason, the book is a waste of time.

This review is from: An Accidental Seduction (Avon) (Kindle Edition)
There were honestly parts where I wasn't sure what was going to happen. That's good, I hate when I read a book and can guess instantly how it's going to end. I liked the premise of the book, I'm really interested to see what happens with her sister I haven't looked yet, but I'm sure there's another book about her.I've liked Lois Greiman for a while and was glad I found her on Kindle.

Witty dialogue and an unusual heroine held my attention,
This review is from: Accidental Seduction, An (Avon) (Mass Market Paperback)
Savaana Hearnes, is a superb actress, performing with the Dook Natsia clan (the Magic Gypsies). She recalls being given into their care when she was very young, and has faint memories of a beautiful mother and a younger sister. One day after a performance, a Lady Clarette Tilmont, who looks startling like Savaana, approaches her and offers a large amount of money for Savaana to take her place so she can join her lover while her abusive husband is away. Savaana needs money to help the Gypsy grandfather who has cared for her, and accepts. All is not as Savaana expected in the husband's home: boredom, confinement, spying servants, and an Irish stranger who somehow inveigles his way into every aspect of her life. Sean Gallagher is seeking revenge against Lady Clarette for betraying his brother and not returning a priceless family heirloom. He's stunned to discover Lady Clarette is nothing like his brother's description and though he fights against it, he's attracted to her. Intrigue, mystery and unexpected events follow one after the other. The plot can be somewhat far-fetched, particularly toward the end, but the strong characters, witty dialogue, and fast paced action, more than compensate. A satisfying romantic romp.
