Another terrific story by Dakota Cassidy, loved it!,
By
This review is from: Accidentally Dead (The Accidental Series, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the second book in Dakota Cassidy's wonderful series (but you don't have to have read the first book - although you should! :)
It's the story of tough, potty-mouthed Nina who gets accidentally turned into a vampire. Greg is the handsome, almost 500 year old vampire, who mistakenly bit her and it trying to help her adjust to her new life. It's a wonderful, FUNNY and touching story. Her best friends Marty (the werewolf) and Wanda are here again too. My fingers are crossed that Wanda gets her own story next!!!

Trust me . . SAMPLE this book and buy How To Marry A Millionaire Vampire instead.
I love vampire books, fantasy books, etc.. and i very rarely say I couldn't finish a book. However, this has to be the worst drivel I have ever read. I mean really .. ! how many curse words does it take to make a good story? Apparently, if you're trusting the positive reviews, it averages to about every 5th word. I couldn't get past the 2nd chapter. I couldn't even finish the 2nd chapter actually. This was one of the most painful reads I have ever subjected myself to. I own pretty much every vampire book out there, good, bad, and worse. This is by far the worst. The main character is whiney and obnoxious, her two friends are ludicrous and silly. Not one of them is in the least like-able or even vaguely interesting. Maybe the book gets better if you can get beyond the 1st chapter where the main character is arguing with her "accidental" werewolf friend about whether or not she's making up having been turned into a vampire because she's jealous . . really ladies ?? I'm not a prude, I'm not overly judgemental , and yeah, I curse. But there's a limit. I found the main character to be vulgar, obnoxious, whiny. I like when the leading lady has a strong backbone, however . . cursing consistently does not a strong person make. A little class is what these ladies are missing. As of page 3 I lost all respect for the main character. by about the 12th, I couldn't stand the 2nd character. . I'm wracking my brain for something positive to say, and all I can come up with is that it's a book about vampires. If that is all the criteria you need, buy this book now. If, however, you're looking for like-able characters, possibly a touch of class, an interesting story that captivates you, try something else. How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks, based on the same premise (a dental assistant gets bitten by a vampire ), is brilliant. From the 1st chapter I couldn't wait to find out what happens next.

Too hard to love,

It was a struggle to finish this book given the main character's constant foulmouthed trash talk and aggressive attitude. I couldn't relate to her in any way and found it unfathomable that such an insecure, angry person would have an eternally happy ending with a vampire hunk. I've read the Twilight series, Sookie Stackhouse series, Argeneau series, and other paranormal vampire romance books. This is at the bottom on the love/romance meter.

I loved the first book in the series, but this one was too repetitive. The first 150 pages could have been done in 50 - it was just a repeat of the same dialogue. Yes, we get she did not want to be a vampire. In the first book, there were other plots advancing the story while the main character adjusted, but in this book, the plot was VERY thin until about page 150 - 175. I really liked the first book in the series, but this one was barely OK.

Ohh boy! Some people have big mouths and then some people have Nina Blackman's mouth. Scratch that... nobody does the big mouth like Nina. We first saw Nina in The Accidental Werewolf as Marty Andrew's color wheel accomplice and best friend. Even as a secondary character in that book she really made an impression on me, and I was glad that she got her own book.
At the beginning of Accidentally Dead, things haven't changed much as far as her abrasive personality goes. Though she has started a new job as a dental hygienist - which is a turn in the upwards direction for our protagonist - that, my friends, is where the trouble begins. This time it isn't her mouth that gets her into trouble, but a sexy mysterious guy who takes a bite out of her while looped up on happy gas. Things definitely turn sour the next day when she can't eat chicken wings without hurling and wants to eat the neighbors' dog as a snack. Not to mention the teeth... oh, I meant FANGS. It seems that Nina is now a part of the paranormal population of vampires... and she is PISSED. The story is full of funny twists and turns as Nina tries to find the cure for vampirism so she can go back to her old life. Unfortunately, her studly sire, Gregori Statleon, has thrown her for a loop. Is he man enough to handle the hostile word wars of Nina? Can Nina find a cure and go back to her old way of life? You will just have to tune into your copy of Accidentally Dead when it comes out this July. I will say that I was very impressed and even shed a tear or two learning more about Nina and why she acts the way she does. The book has some excellent life lessons that we all could take something away from. That, and it is funnier than hell. If you like the writing styles of MaryJanice Davidson or Katie MacAlister, then you will LOVE Dakota Cassidy. She's in a class all her own! How to cope when you wake up dead...,
By
This review is from: Accidentally Dead (The Accidental Series, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the sequel to the Accidental Werewolf but can definitely be read standalone.
Nina is at her first day of work when she gets bitten by her patient. Then she wakes up the next morning.... you guessed it dead and with fangs. If that's not bad enough her beloved pet Larry (a guinea pig) is starting to look really really tasty. After conferring with her two best friends Marty (First book) and Wanda, they decide Nina better find the guy who bit her and give him a Nina style talking to. (for those of you who didn't read the first book Nina is crass, rude, loud, and brazen) The patient, Greg (hottie!), apologizes but tells Nina there's nothing he can do, she's a vampire. Nina then goes on the hunt for her mortality and without realizing it falls head over heels with the only guy who can put up with her big mouth crap (Greg's words not mine) and keep coming. Nina was never my favorite character, she is a little to pushy and has way to many thorns. During this book though I fell in-love with her through Greg. They both are hard headed stubborn, and doesn't know a good thing when it comes barreling through the door. The plot was fast paced and Marty got to kick butt in this book as well. I really hope Dakota Cassidy is planning a book for Wanda, she deserves it after all this crap Nina and Marty put her through. I definitely recommend.

It was an accident to publish this book,
This review is from: Accidentally Dead (Accidental Friends, Book 2) (Paperback)
Don't even think about picking up this book. A complete waste of time and money. This is my second attempt at reading one of Dakota Cassidy's books (see my review of The Accidental Werewolf). This is just about the cheesiest writing I've ever come across. Terrible dialogue, a pathetic attempt at humor that prompts pity, and very very forgettable and flat characters. Silly plot (practically nonexistent). 339 pages of pure fluff and elementary writing. Not even worth buying as a throw away beach read.

enjoyable humorous satire,
This review is from: Accidentally Dead (The Accidental Series, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Following the recent conversion of her Buffalo friend Marty Andrews into THE ACCIDENTAL WEREWOLF, Hackensack dental assistant Nina Blackman knows there are some strange things out there. She just never expected someone's overbite to cause her a problem of sorts at the office. While prepping the patient Gregori "Greg" Statleon for dentist Dr. Berkenstein, under anesthesia he accidentally bit her and turned her into an undead. Marty and their third pal Wanda rush to Hackensack to help their friend fang face who thinks at least she does not have tail issues.
She is his first (and he prays Last) conversion. He is chagrined and unable to take back his bite, but irate Nina's acerbic diatribe accompanied by her two friends leaves him feel as if "Snaggletooth" took two pints of blood from him. Greg swears he will mentor her on all things vampiric while her pals offer support. However, the dentist with suddenly large canines wants to revert back to human although she would not mind snacking on Greg. The sequel to amusing THE ACCIDENTAL WEREWOLF is an enjoyable humorous satire that takes a bite out of the vampire romance sub-genre. The story line is fast-paced from the moment the woman from the Bronx calls her recently changed Lycan friend to shuffle from Buffalo to Jersey as she now has a biting problem. Fans will appreciate the non stop hilarity as Nina rips skin with her tongue from everyone even while she and Greg fall in undead love. Harriet Klausner

Nina, Nina, Nina!,
By
This review is from: Accidentally Dead (The Accidental Series, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
What I Loved: Nina, Nina, Nina! She is my favorite foul-mouthed, say it like it is character. She really is someone who just doesn't accept something till you whack her over the head with facts. Normally these characters get on my nerves but Nina is so well written that about the time you get to the "ugh shut up" point, she grows on you. Oh and I love Greg too! He was the perfect HEA for her :)
What I Liked: Wanda, Marty, Lou, and Svetlanna! What can I say, I think it is the friendship, family, and love that really gel these books together. You can just tell how much Wanda, Marty, and Nina really care for each other. Even when they are uber-mad at each other. What was So-So/Didn't Like: Not a darn thing! Who I would recommend this too: I would recommend this to anyone who likes to laugh. However, if you are sensitive to bad language probably not the book for you. Kind of like Christopher Moore books---you have to like the "off-beat" humor and not give a flip about language to enjoy. If you do however give these books a chance, I guarantee your cheeks will hurt from grinning. They are fantastic :) [...]

Accidentally Dead...From Boredom?,
By NoeCO "Colo-rat-o" (Denver) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Accidentally Dead (The Accidental Series, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Very rarely do I give up on a book. Most times I can plod through to the end. This book I am putting down at page 166. I got through the repetitive dialogue and storyline, but at a little bit more than half way through, Nina still has not accepted being a vampire, I still don't know much of anything about Greg (the vampire) since the only contact with him has been when he is urging Nina to drink blood so that she will not turn to dust. Nina's total case of denial has worn thin. The plot has yet to move forward and I have spent about 5 days longer on this book than it deserves. I can honestly say that Nina is probably one of the worst leading ladies I've read. I did not like her, I wanted her gone, and at this point I am actively hoping she will turn to dust. She is not tough and strong like the author was attempting, she is whiney and foul-mouthed. The entire book could have used some characters with class, a plot that wasn't a repeat of Accidental Werewolf, and some dialogue that consists of more than cuss words. Thank goodness it's on loan from the library and that I didn't waste any money on this book.
