Amy Flowers is an empowering character for tween girls,

This review is from: Candy Apple #14: Accidentally Famous (Paperback)
I LOVED every page of this book.
Amy was a fun character. She wants to do what is best for everyone while accomplishing nothing great, except the fashion show, which Fiona steals the credit for. Papademetriou has created a wonderful heroine in Amy Flowers, and I cannot wait to continue her journey through middle school.

This review is from: Candy Apple #14: Accidentally Famous (Paperback)
Accidentally Famous is a fun read for tweens. Amy Flower is a seventh grade girl who has gotten an academic scholarship to a school in Texas. This school is supposed to be the best of course, only the rich kids usually get in due to the cost of admission. Amy gets invited to take part in a fashion show put on by her friend's mother, only when she sees the outfits she is supposed to wear she gets a little nervous. When her friend assures her that the outfits were hand picked she struts her stuff on the catwalk only to later discover her enemy has switched the clothes to make her look rediculous. One's mean prank turns into a new fashion trend and puts Amy on top of "the League" which is the in crowd at school. When Amy gets put onto the school's Academic Team and tries to help set up a fashion show as part of a fundraiser at the same time, it turns her inside out trying to help everyone and not hurt anyone's feelings. How will Amy do it all? Read for yourself to find out!
This series of books by Lisa Papademetriou is a fun set of books for young girls. I will happily allow my ten year old daughter to read these books. They talk about girls and/or boys having crushes, however the storyline is clean and keeps the story fun for the reader. I would recommend the book to any parent of a fifth through seventh grade girl! By Kerri J. Busteed Author of Will's First Hunt Will's First Hunt

My daughter, age 12, loves Candy Apple books and I'm sure this one will be no exception. As a parent, I appreciate that the content is age appropriate while addressing some real-life issues girls this age deal with (peer pressure, friendships, fitting in, etc.) in a positive light.
