Book Description

Emmy hates her boss Kyle Sterling. She does the unthinkable after a night of drinking and sleeps with him. Before she can even begin to put the enormous mistake behind her, she finds herself snowed in for a long weekend with Kyle. The pair not only get cozy while the storm rages outside, but Emmy sees a side of Kyle that she didn’t know could possibly exist beneath his hard, temperamental exterior.

When the storm is over, Emmy insists on moving on, especially since Kyle has a long-standing girlfriend, socialite and heiress Jessyca Venner. Soon Emmy starts dating Luke Kessler, and even as their relationship grows serious, she finds Kyle hard to shake. Kyle aggressively pursues Emmy without mercy, despite the fact that she clearly loves Luke. Armed with the knowledge that Jessyca possess sensitive and alarming information that has the enormous potential of destroying Sterling Corporation, Kyle refuses to cut ties with her until he is able to find a way to save the family business from devastation.

Emmy, unable to resist Kyle any longer, begins to make a series of bad decisions that result in heartbreaking, life altering, and even devastating consequences.

Is there hope for Emmy or will she lose everything? Will she be able to forgive Kyle for a terrible act? Will she be able to forgive herself?

5.0 out of 5 stars Humorous and heartbreaking November 14, 2012
By Jean
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Reading this book was like witnessing an impending train wreck: You know the crash is going to happen, it's going to be big and there's nothing that can be done to stop it from happening. All you can do is hold your breath and wait to see if anyone is going to emerge alive from the wreckage.

The beginning of this book was so funny, I was sure I was in for a light-hearted read. Then it took a darker turn and got a bit intense. Then it got more intense. Then I was biting my nails. Then I wanted to hug poor Emmy. Then I wanted to kick poor Emmy. Then I heaved a huge sigh of relief when the whole thing ended the exact way I wanted it to. But not in a way I felt confident in predicting was going to actually happen. It twisted, it turned and it was unexpected in several places; I was totally riveted.

Caveat: This book is about cheating and its emotional fall-out. If that type of thing makes you rabid, stay away. Otherwise, I highly recommend you read it - one of the most emotionally wrenching romances I've read in quite some time.

Some editing issues but I don't care. Still loved it. I hope the author is at home working on another book right now because I'm at home waiting to read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very dramatic, while being believable September 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read a lot of books on my kindle, but very rarely review them. I didn't have high hopes for this book (I really don't like cheaters), but it totally blew me away. The author's style really drew me in, making me feel for all the characters. It was very dramatic (as I previously stated) and I really couldn't stop reading it. I stayed up way too late reading this because I couldn't wait to find out what happened. Emmy was a great character, surprisingly likeable for an alcoholic cheater who frequently wishes to smother her own mother (I personally think she is justified). Luke was awesome and Kyle was amazingly toxic. A lot of people have reviewed that they couldn't understand why she would act that way, but Kyle was a master of emotional manipulation. That was the most realistic part of the story for me. Abusers are typically very charismatic. Davis did an excellent job setting up and pounding through an extremely dysfunctional relationship. The book was a great length, not over too soon, but not dragging to where I think it will never end. It really hit all of my personal requirements for a great story. I can't wait for more work by this author. I all ready downloaded her second book (which I thought was a little too short). Give it a shot. You won't regret it!

1.0 out of 5 stars If only there was a way to unread this book November 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book was so ridiculous that I feel compelled to write my first review ever in a feeble attempt to warn future buyers. To recap...cheating, stalking, constant lies, mental abuse, physical abuse, alcoholism, two unplanned pregnancies, mommy issues, sibling issues, a blackmail situation, promiscuity above and beyond the cheating, drugs, depression, ancillary characters that have cancer, are injured, embezzle or die and let's throw in a fire. To be fair, the main character can be quite funny but other than that has no redeeming qualities. Frankly, not one character is likeable. This is a sick, sick book and I am sad I read it.

1.0 out of 5 stars If I could give it zero stars I would. December 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have never written a review before. But with the plethora of Kindle texts now available I am finding reviews more and more useful. I don't know why this book has so many good reviews. I am not shy when it comes to graphic sex scenes, or over the top alpha males in my fiction but the way the author trivialized the domestic violence and abuse in this book literally made me sick. There was no thinly veiled BDSM reference to disguise the violence like is common post 50 Shades. Just a slowly evolving intensely abusive relationship that breaks the main character. Maybe it was the reality of the situation. MaybeIi was expecting the main character to evovle. Maybe it was that I was expecting a witty HEA. Maybe it was that the plethora of positive reviews had lulled me into a false sense of security. In the end I wished I could forget I ever read it.

2.0 out of 5 stars First time ever I did not like the main character at all. February 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The main character had a good wit about her. I had such a hard time relating with the main character Emmy. She was so selifish and self involved. I wanted so much for her to grow and learn from her mistakes. Even at the end of the book I didn't feel like she really understood how screwed up she was to all the decent people in her life. I didn't feel like she really deserved the second chance she got with Luke. I found it hard to believe that Luke a self respecting man would take her back, especially after she invited her abuser and the man she cheated on him with to her hotel room after he was trying to make things work again. I have never disliked a main character more then her. I can accept that we are all flawed and make mistakes but it seems like she didn't really learn from them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome read November 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well there is no doubt that this book is a roller coaster ride from start to finish.....There were times in the book that she did not share with the reader everything that was going on, but boy when she did, it took my breath away. This is the second book I have read by this author and I am really impressed....You may not appreciate everything you read, in this book, but you will certainly understand the Character's more by the time you finish the book...Well, Well, worth the money, and a complete novel...which is hard to find on here anymore.

3.0 out of 5 stars I personally liked it, but it surprised me at the end
I personally liked it, but it surprised me at the end. The leading man was not the man our heroine ended up with so... That's a pity, but i like the other man more.

The heart wants what the heart wants. A tangled love affair. The author had rooting for both men at some points. I was hooked from the start. Moving on to book 2.
