Book Description

April 15, 2011
Join us in making the workplace less hectic and interrupt driven, more satisfying and results driven instead. We work and live in an era of interruptions. The very moment you begin a task, you are stopped by emails, IM's, colleague visits, phone calls, meetings, and now, tweets and Facebook updates. The very technologies that were invented to enhance productivity have made it nearly impossible. Not only this, we are bombarded by an unprecedented information overload dominated by the Internet and globalization. This puts unreasonable demands on our work and personal lives, and as a result, we suffer, feel helpless, and our accomplishments decline. This needs to stop. We invite you to join us in this movement. Will you join us? This journey starts in this workbok and the comprehensive and innovative methodology that it teaches you! This second edition of The Accomplishing More With Less Workbook demonstrates the e-mail tips and techniques in Microsoft Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, and Outlook 2003, as well as includes tips on how to implement these techniques in other e-mail clients such as Gmail, Apple Mail, Entourage, and others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Antidote to feeling overwhelmed October 16, 2009

I attended Pierre's "Accomplishing More with Less" workshop at Stanford a few years ago. I valued it so much that I hired Pierre to do the workshop for my staff. And yet, I confess, I practice only half of what I learned that day. So when the workbook was released, I eagerly ordered a copy, hoping it would reinforce what I learned and help me get back on track. It has exceeded my expectations! There are more details than what we were able to cover in the workshop, and I love being able to go back to the key points and visual aids that address my particular needs.

Pierre's values and expertise shine through this workbook. He genuinely wants to help people be more productive, without laying on judgment or guilt-trips. He presents productivity issues less as a human failing and more as a universal workplace struggle. Too many of us have too much to do, too much information and too many interruptions. Pierre helps us understand why we feel overwhelmed and how we can change with very simple and practical techniques. I love the "Maybe Later" box! Whether you take baby steps or giant steps, I guarantee Pierre's techniques will help you accomplish more - maybe with the same time rather than less... but certainly feeling better about it! Thank you, Pierre!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reduce stress and stay organized at the same time. June 17, 2010

If I spent as much time getting organized, as I spend on reading about getting organized, I would probably not need to read another book on the subject. But there's always the possibility that one more book will solve my problems. And I finally found the right book.

Easily the most important section for me was "Work in Progress". I work at home, have multiple distractions, and always have a new project that I'm into. Therefore I have many small piles of paper that are my specific projects, and always felt I could put my hands on anything when I needed it. But invariably, when a phone call or email came in addressing my project, I had trouble retrieving the particular stack I needed, since it was most likely buried under a different and equally important stack.

The Work In Progress filing system was the perfect answer for me. I have been using it for several months now, and the best thing about it isn't just BEING ABLE to find what I'm looking for - but it's not having the STRESS of being UNABLE to find what I'm looking for. I have 2 small cardboard hanging file bins sitting on the floor next to my chair, and all my current projects are in there. Of course I still have all my BIG filing cabinets for my permanent storage - but these 2 little ones have eased my life immensely.

And that was just the beginning. It is one of the most helpful organizational tools I have ever tried to use. Very user friendly and fun to read. I highly recommend it.

This workbook illustrates the principles Khawand teaches in his invaluable workshops, which I took last year. It's amazing how the digital era has kept us in a constant state of interruption, incapable of accomplishing anything that requires sustained attention. Khawand helps you control interruptions and tech distractions instead of allowing them to control you, and teaches you exactly how. I cannot recommend his methods or this workbook highly enough. After taking Khawand's workshop and implementing his tactics, I was able to move my consulting practice to the next level, both in quality and in financial reward. Thank goodness for Pierre Khawand and his attention to this insidious and ubiquitous problem.
