I'm a software developer with a thing for project management and a fan of Moleskine notebooks.
I purchased this notebook last summer and had to wait until January 1st to make use of it since it contains January through December of 2010. I've been using the copy I purchased for a few weeks now at work to track which projects I work on each day, milestones for each project, and so on. I am extremely happy with it; so happy that I purchased another copy for home use. Pros: - The accordion foldout nature of the pages is very handy since each month is a set of two pages facing each other. - It just feels cool to see a timeline in this physical form. - Allows you to track a high-level overview of long-term projects, tasks, and milestones. - The paper is fairly thick and doesn't bleed through easily Cons: - I wish that the space in each cell was just a little bigger - The cover doesn't seem to be as high of quality as other Moleskine products - the front invariably warps where the elastic band grips the cover closed. - Due to the nature of the product it is hard to get to the back of each page which makes the reference pages and detailed notes sections harder to use. Overall: I liked it so much I came back and bought another one. It definitely has a fairly small target market, though. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing a larger size of one of these for 2011.

Great for Tracking Clients, Goals, and Accomplishments,

I am a photographer (jcasasphotography.com) and love using this Project Planner. I'm a big Moleskine user and I'm happy that this fits with my pocket squared notebook and daily pocket planner in my custom leather case from renaissance-art.com [Yes I'm a geek like that to still use notebooks in a leather case =) ]. Anyways, this is a really good item if you like having things organized on a timeline. I keep track of all clients I have made contact to, their photoshoot dates, delivery due dates, and any goal/due date relating to a client's shoot. As the previous reviewer mentioned, I wished the spaces were bigger but other than that, I have no problem using my Copic Multiliner pen with a 0.1mm tip for very sharp thin lines. As the previous reviewer also mentioned, it's definitely for a small market but I do hope Moleskine keeps this product as this is definitely useful and even inspiring to see what you done in a full year by folding out its accordion pages.
Use wise, the pages are thick enough so there shouldn't be much bleed even with heavy ink and another plus is that you can write on the planner on either side [or both]. The cover isn't as sturdy as the hardcover notebooks from Moleskine so do expect some folding/warping from the elastic band. If you write very few in a given day, this is perfect as it's small enough to keep in pocket/bag. If your day is full of reminders and deadlines and such, go with the Moleskine Daily Planner which is what I use as well. Great addition to the Moleskine planner family!

If you're a "graphic person" you'll really appreciate this kind of tool.

Quality has gone downhill,

I have used and carried Moleskine notebooks for years due to the great paper and build quality, but 2011 will be my last one. The construction of their books is no longer anything special, especially for the price they demand. With my latest book the elastic came unglued from one end, then the other, and now the pocket bottom has worn through. When I contacted them, I was surprised to learn these are no longer made in Europe, but in China.
Moleskine has gone from a true quality product, to just another piece of Chinese made junk. There are better options on the market. |
