5.0 out of 5 stars Angelo Di Pippo - An Italian-American Musical Institution
I can still remember, 35 years ago, listening to an album, that my parents played on their then-new Magnavox console stereo system, that had the most beautiful accordion sounds that I had ever heard. The album was on the now-defunct FIESTA label and I can say that I am now the proud owner of it and I now play it for my sons. That album, Accordion Italiano, featuring...

3.0 out of 5 stars Italian Party
This CD is a little carnival like for my taste. Most of the music has a polka, dance feel to it that you might hear at an amusement park or at a carnival. Fun music for some occasions, but not for relaxing with a glass of red Italian wine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Angelo Di Pippo - An Italian-American Musical Institution, April 15, 2003
This review is from: Accordion Italiano (Audio CD)
I can still remember, 35 years ago, listening to an album, that my parents played on their then-new Magnavox console stereo system, that had the most beautiful accordion sounds that I had ever heard. The album was on the now-defunct FIESTA label and I can say that I am now the proud owner of it and I now play it for my sons. That album, Accordion Italiano, featuring Angelo Di Pippo, has been faithfully and digitally reproduced so that a new generation of listeners can bask in the melodies and expert musicianship. I have had the pleasure of meeting Angelo personally on the phone and have found him to be a charming, unassuming and friendly individual. I am now proud to be able to call him friend! His credits speak volumes of his influence to the musical community at-large. This CD is, as others have said, perfect for background dinner music, great when you're driving in the car and a perfect choice for regular playing on our three Italian radio programs in the Northeastern Ohio area. His playing is flawless, fluid and captivating. The tarantellas, polkas and waltzes that he plays, will bring you that much closer to Abbruzzi, Calabria, Napoli and Sicilia! "Tante Grazie" e "Buon Salute" to Angelo Di Pippo, an Italian-American Musical Institution!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheers and Tears, September 18, 2004
This review is from: Accordion Italiano (Audio CD)
Hip, hip hooray! This is an album of excellent musicianship with an excellent selection of songs. Listening to it is sure to soothe the Italian/American soul, jump start the Italian/American heart, bring tears to the eyes, and resurect memories of growing up in an Italian home. Listening is enhanced with a glass of vino di tavola, thinly sliced capicola, a piece of provolone, and a hunk of rustic bread. I love it! I've bought several copies as gifts for family members.

Whether it's a romantic dinner for two, or if you like to entertain with a full blown Italian dinner, with good pasta, home made sauce, Italian sausages, antipasto, Chianti, freshly grated cheeses, served on red and white checkered tablecloths, this beautiful Italian music will definitely complete the mood and atmosphere, and leave you dreaming of floating down a river in Venice.

5.0 out of 5 stars From One Accordion Player To Another, August 14, 2005

This is a wonderful Italian Accordion cd! From lively tarantellas to bouncy polkas (yes, I was surprised too!), to beautiful love ballads, this disc has it all. I am somewhat of a critic, since I took accordion lessons from 1957 through 1964. Accordionist Angello DiPippo, who was voted best accordionist in the prestigious Keyboard Magazine Poll, displays why he won this award by his virtuoso performance on the "sideways Steinway". You will also enjoy wonderful tangos, waltzes, sambas and mazurkas---this disc has it all! I own many accordion cd's: German Beer Drinking songs, Russian accordion songs, Frankie Yankovic collections, and believe me, this cd is one of the best ever. I highly recommend it to all of you accordion aficionados out there (especially Drew Carey and Steven Q. Erkell).

I wish I could find more stuff like this, but I don't know what to look for. I especially like the tarentellas. Amazon is silly for not making sound clips available on this album.

This is a great product for the whole family to enjoy. This CD will provide hours of fun for you, your family, and friends. It has traditional songs from every part of Italy as well. I was a little nervous about buying it without hearing any of it first, but I wasn't let down. The Accordion is tremendous, some solo's, some vocals, you get the works with this CD. My only question now is why WOULDN'T you want to buy such a treasure?!

This summer I visited Sienna, Italy and stayed at Hotel Bernini. The owner play a medeley of Italian accordian pieces. We were very impressed and I vowed when I got home to buy a CD such as this one. This CD brings back the memories of that wonderful visit.
