5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for parents!, October 28, 2004
This review is from: Accountable Kids: Raising Accountable Kids One Step At A Time (Paperback)
This book has given us as parents, the tools to enjoy parenting and teach our children how to be a responsible part of our family. We no longer have to nag our children to do what is expected of them. They have learned to take control of their own lives and and they love it! The wonderful thing about the principals covered in this book is that you can custom fit it to your family. And you are the one teaching your child. My kids love having structure and predictability. Using the skills from this book, they have blossomed into Accountable Kids, and I will always be grateful to the authors

I love this program! I have been using it for several months and can't believe the results with my children. The book was easy to read and has brought my family closer together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical!!!, June 30, 2009
This review is from: Accountable Kids: Raising Accountable Kids One Step At A Time (Paperback)
FINALLY! A practical, step by step method to a happier home life for everyone (kids and parents alike!).

I've read plenty of parenting *theory* books. Books that may provide insight, and understanding, but very little in the way of concrete take-away. This system is SO much more than theory (though, it has some very serious theory backing it up, in the way of sound psychological and child development principles). Instead it is specific, concrete, outlined steps to completely transform your relationship with your child (beginning, in a more limited way, around 3yo up to early teens) and help you raise a child with a clear sense of personal responsibility and, yes, accountability!

It's also quite flexible and can be altered to apply for all sorts of children, families, and situations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for ADHD/ADD, October 25, 2004
By
This review is from: Accountable Kids: Raising Accountable Kids One Step At A Time (Paperback)
I have three children ages 10,7, and 6. My youngest has ADHD tendencies and my oldest is the quintessential first child who doesn't seem struggle with behavior problems or helping out. I knew Accountable Kids would be great for my youngest child, but I didn't realize how much my oldest would love it!! This program helps parents encourage positive behaviors and it can be easily customized to fit the needs of the family. I have tried other chore charts and they never seem to work. Accountable Kids is so much more than a chore chart. It has helped the entire family work together and my kids are learning that there are some chores you do "just because you are a part of the family." I am no longer the mean mom!!

5.0 out of 5 stars It Really Does Work!, September 27, 2010
This review is from: Accountable Kids: Raising Accountable Kids One Step At A Time (Paperback)
I purchased this with much prompting from my best friend who raved about it. I thought "my kids are already accountable", they clean-up their rooms, get ready for school and listen 50% of the time (well maybe 40% of the time). Wow, am I impressed. Now, my kids are proactive, sweeping the floors, getting the newspaper and cleaning up after themselves without me having to ask 22 times. There are many things I love about this system, but I think my favorite is that I no longer have to nag. If they don't get what they need to done, they don't get a ticket and they don't get to have any fun - it's that simple. I also find the privilege pass a fantastic way to positively change a negative behavior (like going to bed with no fuss and no fight and sitting through a meal AND using manners). It's worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly wonderful program, January 26, 2012

This program does take commitment and consistency from the parents, but if that is done, the results will come. My husband and I started this program when our twins turned four. What a difference! I highly recommend reading all of the book before implementing to get a true understanding of the program and how powerful of a tool it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Works!!!!!, July 6, 2011
This review is from: Accountable Kids: Raising Accountable Kids One Step At A Time (Paperback)
Accountable Kids has been great. The book along with the accountable kids board has changed our family life. My 5 yr old went from depending on me for all the answers of daily routine to being mostly independent. He almost has a normal day routine memorized and he loves it. He loves when I add small things 1/x week like trash day or vacuum his room. Now he beats me to the kitchen for breakfast after looking at his accountability boards and making his bed, getting dressed, teeth brushed & face washed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Help, July 4, 2011

We used this system in conjunction with "Have a New Kid By Friday." Accountable Kids has been wonderful and kept "nagging" out of our home! Our house has been tranquil for three years, because the system acts as the accountability process. I would recommend this book and the accessories to anybody! Our wooden ticket holders look like they have been through a war now, and they sure have worked. We tweaked certain dynamics to fit our kids, but the text provided the blue-print. Our kids are 10,9, & 8 now and they are very responsible and self motivated!
