What if the unspeakable happened to you? Would you fantasize about seeking personal vengeance? How far would you go...and how much would you sacrifice to hold those responsible that believe they are accountable to none?

Welcome to the prestigious accounting firm of Winscott & Associates. Welcome to Audra Tanner's personal hell. She had heard the rumors about her employer. The whispered secrets. But she had thrown herself into work to escape the pain of her miscarriage and demise of her marriage. Idealistic, she thought if she worked hard she would be rewarded. She thought wrong.

Savagely initiated into the brutal underbelly of the firm, Audra learns too late that the rumors are true. Now after five years of careful plotting, Audra is ready to push the wheels of justice in motion. Her goal of retribution has turned into an obsession and she will stop at nothing until everyone responsible pays. Will revenge set her free or is Audra's quest for personal justice only beginning?

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Idea, SO BADLY Written December 23, 2011
By R. Pohl
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The plot idea is a good one, the writing is just so bad. When a writer does such things as use "who's" instead of "whose" or "loose" instead or "lose", it becomes quite distracting. Entire paragraphs are written in all caps because the characters are screaming obscenities. There is no character development.
I was hoping for much better after reading the other reviews.

1.0 out of 5 stars good example of how NOT to write January 18, 2012
By Betsy B
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story line sounded intriguing, so I downloaded this book for free. Good thing - it would have been a waste of money as well as time. The character development was pathetic and sadly predictable. The spelling and grammar were horrendous... numerous sentences were like "snakes" - winding around and writhing painfully as they tried to go in too many directions. I found myself reading the same sentence 3 or 4 times to figure out what the writer was trying to say. I dislike profanity, and there was so much of it - fortunately, by skimming over the pages of all-cap yelling and F-bombs, I think I spared myself at least a third of the book. I grew weary of the heroine being described as "frail", even "bony". This was particularly annoying as she was exacting her revenge, a time in which descriptors evoking an image of power would have been much more appropriate and welcome.

Take my advice and skip this book unless you are an English teacher who is looking for bad examples.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Powerful Read September 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Ashley Fontainne manages to achieve the impossible: she makes accountants interesting! Beginning with an incredibly harrowing scene you are grabbed hook, line and sinker into the story as the book becomes an almost compulsive read.

Audra is a worthy protagonist, almost destroying herself in her quest for vengeance against the despicable Olin, her boss. The action and revelations don't stop as each main character is explored in depth, giving more weight to the overall plot. The book's central scene simply explodes across the pages and is as gripping as it is satisfying. The last chapter is certainly clever, setting up nicely for the sequel, Zero Balance - and if book 2 is anything like Accountable to None it's sure to be a powerful must-read!

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING READ! March 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The author of Accountable To None, Ashley Fontainne, took me on an emotional roller coaster ride, feeling everything from pain and heartache of a character that the reader finds themselves wanting to wrap in a warm embrace, to the evil sense of entitlement on one of the most brutal characters I have read about in a long time. I'm exhausted. I could not put this book down. It gripped me from the very beginning and the intensity level just kept building and building. I found myself holding my breath as I read. I suggest you start this book on a Saturday morning with nothing planned for the day, because once you start, you won't be able to stop. This is an AMAZING READ! I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique and enjoyable November 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
My first book by this author, and it was worth my reading time. I liked how she did the chapters like links in a chain, always connecting the current link to the past and future ones. I like her style, characters, pacing, motivations, and plot. Some really good and different twists. I would definitely read the rest of this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotional and a can't wait til the end book December 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was a free download and I love mysteries and thrillers. This combined both. I couldn't wait until I got to the end to find out what was going on. The lead character is brutally raped and abused in order to become an equity partner in the firm. She spends 5 years plotting her revenge before everything comes together and she can confront the firm and her rapist. It's a must read!

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad on soooooo many levels January 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Where to begin? Poorly written, awful characters, horrible plot. Don't bother, trust me.

As an eternal optimist I actually wasted time I shall never get back reading all of the way through to an ending that veered between trying to be sappy and uplifting with a hint of romance to "Oh my gosh will there be a psychotic sequel??" (I hope not!)

After being horribly beaten and raped our heroine goes high tech espionage to plot her perfect revenge---while becoming a waif like recluse who cuts herself off from all family and friends. Luckily all of the supporting characters have terrible secrets of their own that it only takes her 5 years to uncover (How she does it takes about 7 run on sentances to explain...) And the biggest, most plum secret of all that makes it possible for her to make them all pay falls into her lap 4 years and 49 weeks into her revenge plot.

I can't even describe how badly this is plotted and written. It is like an 8th graders attempt to rewrite a Grisham novel for a class asignment that is due the next day.

I enjoyed this one - it was a quick read, but had a good plot and had me rooting for the good guys. Or gals, in this case. We all probably know somebody like Olin. You know, the boss who leads with fear and intimidation. There's definitely a sequel here. I can't wait to see what Piper has in store for Audry and Gabriella. Maybe Olin will escape, or maybe he'll take a chapter from Piper's life and go spend some time in the loony bin and manipulate the doctors by seeming "cured" after a suitable amount of time. I'll be looking for the next one. Great job Ashley!

More About the Author

Award-winning and International bestselling author Ashley Fontainne is an avid reader of mostly the classics. Ashley became a fan of the written word in her youth, starting with the Nancy Drew mystery series. Stories that immerse the reader deep into the human psyche and the monsters that lurk within us are her favorite reads.

Her muse for penning the EVISCERATING THE SNAKE series was The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Ashley's love for this book is what sparked her desire to write her debut novel, Accountable to None, the first book in the trilogy. With a modern setting to the tale, Ashley delves into just what lengths a person is willing to go when they seek personal justice for heinous acts perpetrated upon them. The second novel in the series, Zero Balance focuses on the cost and reciprocal cycle that obtaining revenge has on the seeker. For once the cycle starts, where does it end? How far will the tendrils of revenge expand? Adjusting Journal Entries answered that question: far and wide.

Her short thriller entitled Number Seventy-Five, touches upon the sometimes dangerous world of online dating. Number Seventy-Five took home the BRONZE medal in fiction/suspense at the 2013 Readers' Favorite International Book Awards contest and is currently in production for a feature film.

Her latest release, the suspenseful thriller The Lie, took home the GOLD medal in the 2013 ILLUMINATION BOOK AWARDS for ebook/fiction.
