5.0 out of 5 stars The Accountable Organization : Reclaiming Integrity, Restori, March 27, 2004

This review is from: The Accountable Organization: Reclaiming Integrity, Restoring Trust (Hardcover)
The Accountable Organization is an excellent piece of work which should be required reading for Marketing/Sales executives in virtually all types of business. The author, John Marchica, provides an accurate and comprehensive compilation of the most important values that any firm should bring to the market place, inclusive of integrity, commitment and accountability.

I particularly enjoyed the consistent utilization of key business models to emphasize the value an organization can demonstrate to its customers (external) as well as its own employees (internal). Chapter #10 which depicts the Southwest Airlines model was most enlightening.

Mr. Marchica has developed an "easy to read" style which moves smoothly and rapidly from chapter to chapter. Also, he has employed a unique summarization at the conclusion of each chapter which gives the reader the opportunity to quickly review the essence of the message.

I was impressed by the fact that the author referenced perhaps the finest behavioralist of our time in Chris Argyris to demonstrate the value and commitment that truly motivated employees can bring to the organization.

My only recommendation for improvement would have been to provide even more specific business examples and models of current organizations which have been highly successful as well as those which have failed to measure up to expectations.

Once again, in summary, this is a "common sense" book which is superb reading for all levels of sales/marketing management!

5.0 out of 5 stars Profits merge with ethics - A very practical approach, April 21, 2004
By
This review is from: The Accountable Organization: Reclaiming Integrity, Restoring Trust (Hardcover)
The Author offers a cerebral, but pragmatic approach to defining and applying concepts like "integrity" and "trust" (too often just rhetoric) in the modern business enterprise. His views on risk and trust completely changed my approach to marketing. Well thought out, insightful, academic, but with very practical applications. A must read not just for executives, but for everyone in your entire enterprise

5.0 out of 5 stars Take your company to a higher level, April 12, 2004

Mike Killion (Phoenix, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Accountable Organization: Reclaiming Integrity, Restoring Trust (Hardcover)
The Accountable Organization is a timely book by John Marchica. It speaks to the heart of what has given corporate America a black eye. The value however is not just pointing out the problems that we are all seeing resulting from corporate leaders making self serving decisions. Rather, the book provides valuable insights into what any company of any size needs to do to be accountable to all its constituents, customers, shareholders, investors, employees and suppliers. Moreover, the result is not just being a good corporate citizen but the result is a very successful company. Success that works for all constituents. The Accountable Organization is a must read if you want to take your company to a higher level.
