Finally, a book on accounting that focuses on street-smart financial management rather than accounting mechanics

Most accounting books are either too basic or too boring. This one carves a niche all its own. Instead of trying to morph you into instant CPAs, it provides practical advice through real-life examples, making it the first accounting "page-turner."

Author Robert J. Low even draws on notorious financial scandals for illuminating lessons to small and medium-size businesses. He minimizes technical information and offers straight talk on the art of controllership--a key to ensuring company profits. Accounting and Finance for Small Business Made Easy includes:

  • An accounting primer that demystifies terms and practices for the non-accountant

  • Invaluable perspective on the critical areas for managing assets: inventory control and increasing cash flow

  • A 10-step plan to help you start instantly to implement effective financial management

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Small Business Finance in Plain English!

This is the straight-talking primer for owners and managers who don’t want schooling in accounting mechanics so much as streetwise financial advice. By simplifying the complicated and cutting to the chase, this author explains:

  • How to translate “accountant speak” and get the answers you need to make wise business decisions.
  • How to monitor the health of such critical areas as cash flow nad inventory without getting mired in the numbers.
  • How to recognize—and avoid—the financial booby traps that have caused small (and big) business to go bust.
  • How to immediately start implementing effective financial management with a few prescribed moves.

About the Author

Robert J. Low has more than 20 years of experience in accounting, control, and finance in small to midsize companies. He is the author of Bottom Line Basics and was the key designer of Cashe, a knowledge-based software package for financial modeling and analysis.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Very Informative Book, April 12, 2010

This review is from: Accounting and Finance for Small Business Made Easy (Entrepreneur Made Easy) (Paperback)
I liked this book, for the most part.

It has lots of useful information. Problem is, the content is still a little difficult
for someone who has never approached the subject before.

My advice: don't just read it through. Use it as a reference. Jump around; look for interesting
tidbits of information.

Great book, small investment. You won't regret it.
