Yes, Jane Austen was too fragile to be removed from the box, but the bawdy bard could not be contained. I must admit - I couldn't resist holding him. As he was more substantial than Miss Austen, I felt no fear or guilt for removing him from his plastic entombment. When my youngest son invited me to play a game involving action figures, I willingly joined in with my own "toy", Mr. Shakespeare, the original man of "action" (to my son's many giggles and snickers). Mr. Shakespeare has accompanied me to school (I teach high school English) and once spent an entire class in the pocket of a highly respected college professor discussing Twelfth Night (the professor was discussing - not Shakespeare). Mr. Shakespeare currently resides on the shelf of a bookcase where I keep my DVD's. He usually hangs around near the Hamlet movies (yes, I own more than one), but is currently residing with As You Like It. While he occasionally makes field trips with my other Shakespeare stuff (a rubber duck, a pen made in his likeness, various books, etc.), he still prefers to spend most of his time with actors (again - he sits with my DVD's, remember?).

5.0 out of 5 stars What a piece of work..., May 30, 2008

This is a fabulous action hero to sit on your desk and inspire you. He may not have a chatty ring to pull, but his very presence in your abode speaks volumes.

With Shakespeare on your desk, well, brother you'll never cow-tow!

I saw this one day while I was goofing around and just had to have it. I want Charles Dickens next. This is a cool little figure with a quill and book. The quill falls out of his hand and could very easily be lost. It is also tiny. Not great for small children. He sits on my book case and inspires me.

This action figure was purchased for my adult daughter who is an English teacher.
Her students study Hamlet by Shakespeare and she requested this miniature doll to use in class. The high school students were intrigued and liked it - anything to heighten enthusiasm for the subject!

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect teacher gift, December 5, 2009

This is a fantastic product, obviously probably better suited to older kids or adults who would appreciate its scholarly hilarity.

I have him still in his box, hanging on my office wall, as I'm sure many teachers would be happy to do. It's a great conversation piece -- very funny and wonderful.
