Welcome to the mustache party! We've got a mustache cake, a mustache cheese log and a gorgeous mustache ice sculpture in the center of the table! But we couldn't have done it without the help of this 16" (40.6 cm) wide, 1-1/2" (3.8 cm) deep silicone Mustache Mold.

My daughter requested a mustache themed birthday. I still don't really get the whole mustache phenomenon, but hey, to each her own, especially on a birthday. I wasn't convinced that it was gonna work when I took it out of the box because I've never worked with silicone molds before. But color me surprised when I actually successfully baked a mustache shaped cake with it.
The mold only fits half a box of cake mix, so be sure to not overfill. I sprayed it lightly with cooking spray before pouring in the mix and followed the cake recipe according to the recipe, checking on it regularly to make sure it didn't overbake. I ended up taking the cake out 5 minutes before the recommended time suggested for a 13x9 pan, checking the center with a toothpick to ensure that it was done. I cleaned it in the dishwasher with no problems and its flexible enough to fit in the limited space I have in my baking cabinet. NOTE: I baked our cake with whole wheat flour, which cooks a little differently than bleached flour, so be sure to check yours with a toothpick before taking it out. You place the toothpick in the center of the cake and if it come out with any cake batter or crumbs, it's not done yet. When it comes out clean, you're done.
The box also says you can use it to make corn bread (for all you corn mustache enthusiasts), jello molds (Merry Christmas, grandmom!), brownies, ice sculptures (perfect for those popular mustache themed weddings), and fancy soap. No joke. It tells you to make some fancy soap. Now, maybe I've just been buying my soap from Target for too long and wouldn't know a fancy soap if it was a 15" long mustache that slapped me in the face, but WHAT?! Either way, you can do it. You crazy mustache lover, you.

So far I've used this for jello and baking a cake. The jello was easy just filled it up and put it in the fridge. It turned out great. The cake was a bit more challenging since one mold usually only holds half a cake. I also had to place the mold atop a cookie sheet to bake since it does not have a flat surface. Other than that though the cake baked well and looked great. Made some black frosting to go with it.

Not good quality
The cake in the tips of the pan burns, no matter how you try to distribute the batter. Cake does not release from pan easily.

Awesome cakes
This is a fun cake mold. THe only thing I can say is make sure you don't fill it too full or you will have cake batter to clean up! It made awesome mustaches though!
