Audrey Wilson is back!,
By Angela Henry (Springfield, Ohio USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Accrual Way To Die: An Audrey Wilson Mystery (Audrey Wilson Mysteries) (Paperback)
Accrual Way to Die marks the return of financial planner, Audrey Wilson. This time around Audrey is smack in the middle of the mystery surrounding the murder of her childhood friend, Norma Jean Strange. Audrey had been working as a highly paid consultant to Norma Jean, who was the finance director for Rosemont, the African-American township in which they both live. Audrey is shocked when Norma Jean tells her that she suspects that one of the Rosemont board members has been stealing. But before Norma Jean has a chance to meet with Audrey to go over her findings, she's brutally murdered in her office. Audrey's shock turns to horror when she discovers that it was Norma Jean who was stealing from the township and she'd set Audrey up to take the fall. Audrey finds herself without an alibi for the time of Norma Jean's murder and all the evidence points straight to her!As the clues and a strong motive pile up against Audrey and even her friend police detective Rob Hollingsworth questions her innocence, help comes in the form of handsome attorney Marshall Fixx. A newly divorced Marshall has moved into the office down the hall from Audrey's and though their first meeting is anything but promising, Marshall and Audrey find themselves drawn to each other as Marshall acts as Audrey's attorney in her fight to prove her innocence. But when a shocking new piece of evidence falls into Marshall's hands he also has questions about Audrey's innocence. Audrey finds herself on the brink of losing it all unless the real killer is found soon! Though the reason for Norma Jean's betrayal of Audrey is never clearly explained, C.M. Miller's vivid characters, realistic dialogue, and a shocking plot twist make Accrual Way to Die a must read for mystery fans.

There was too much gratuitous sex in the first installment.,

This review is from: Accrual Way To Die: An Audrey Wilson Mystery (Audrey Wilson Mysteries) (Paperback)
But Accrual Way To Die is a strong intricately woven tale with a sweet love story to boot! I'm happy that I gave this author a second chance.Audrey Wilson is a bad judge of character and when she accepts a job to work with her childhood friend who eveybody else seems to know is no good, she ends up paying for her naivete in a very big way. The sole reason for her "friend" hiring her was to hang an embezzlement scheme on her. When she is later murdered everybody, including Audrey's new love Marshall Fixx thinks she's the killer. This is an enjoyable read as Audrey pludges deeper into a web of delicious deceipt. Hail, Hail, C.M. Miller!

This review is from: Accrual Way To Die: An Audrey Wilson Mystery (Audrey Wilson Mysteries) (Paperback)
Protagonist Audrey Wilson is encouraged by childhood friend Norma Jean Strange to take a government position in order to be a shield for Norma Jeans embezzelement. Norma Jean is murdered and Audrey is implicated in the crime.I loved this story of romance, mystery and betrayal. The characters are well-rounded and the villians are deliciously dastardly and makes readers long for more. The ending is unexpected and delightful. I will certainly check out the rest of this exciting mystery series. READ-ALL-ABOUT-IT BookClub gives this one a HighRecommend! High
