This monitor is very easy to use. It comes with a lancet device included (Accu-Chek Softclix Lancet Device) and 10 lancets but no strips; therefore, in order to use it even once, you must buy the strips. I bought the Accu-Chek Active Blood Glucose Test Strips and they work. Given that 10 lancets last only ten times, you are better off buying lancets right away. Careful! You must buy the Accu-Chek Softclix Lancets (the Accu-Check SoftTouch Lancets will NOT work).
Once you have all your equipment, you do the following. Every time that you buy a new box of Strip, you must put the microchip in the monitoring kit.
The routine is very easy: load the lancet device; load the strip in the monitoring kit; use the lancet device to make a tiny prick in your finger, put the drop of blood on strip. Five seconds and you get the answer.

I've been a diabetic for 33 years. This is the nicest monitor I've used yet. Very quick, very user friendly and Amazon has the best price out there. I did my research and found that Amazon was the least expensive and delivery was free with my $25.00 order of a few other supplies. Delivery was quick and it saved me running to the local Kmart (30 miles away) and paying almost $5.00 more.

I purchased this meter from Amazon at great price with free shipping. It came with meter and free Softclix Lancet Device and and 10 Lancets.
Had to purchase test strips seperately. This is a very nice meter and very accurate.
It has stored meter reading memory in 7or14 days past average readings and this meter requires a very small sample of blood to get the reading. Takes about 5 seconds to give a very accurate reading.
The reason I say the reading is very accurate is when I first purchased this meter I had to go into the hospital to have other blood work done and my spouse works in the hospital lab that performs all the blood work. When she drawed blood for my tests she also added a sample to this new Accu-Chek Active meter and then ran her usual tests on the hospital lab machines. The readings,(2)on the Accu-Chek Active were exactly the same as the hosptal's big and much more expensive lab machines results. Right to the exact number. So that completely sold me on this little meter.
It useses a strip just for the Active system and they are very cheap when purchased here on Amazon. In fact they were under $20 per 50 box for the test strips for it which I found out was almost $10 cheaper than the local big giant Wally World store.
I would highly recommend this Accu-Chek Active system to anyone that needs accurate daily basic glucose readings. The only thing is that since purchasing this meter here on Amazon in 2010 that it shows that it is not available at this time and shows that it may not be available in the future. Not sure if they have discontinued this model or not.
Very good meter for the price!

I feel the product is good, have not used it yet, but I believe it will work out well, slightly on the expensive side but I paid for the brand value
