Excellent hand exerciser,

I bought two of these for my teenage sons who both play guitar. They have used it often since Christmas and it seems to be good at strengthening the hand. I especially like that individual fingers can be strengthened, especially that tough pinkie. It's small enough to fit in the pocket, so it can be used anywhere. Great stress reliever as well!

I'm a bassist and I've been playing for 8 years now, and this little guy definitely comes in handy when you're watching tv or walking to class/work/what-have-you. Hell I used to use it in my college lectures as well. Definitely kept up, if not elevated my left hand strength over time. I would definitely grab one if you don't have much time to practice and are looking to stay in shape.

I have some early onset arthritis, mostly in my hands and it was affecting my guitar playing, not that anyone would notice ;-) This exerciser has been a big help in reducing the stiffness in my fingers, and engendered strength in them which has benefited my playing. For the low cost I would recommend it to anyone with hand problems.

OUTSTANDING item for beginner guitar players or anyone who has to use finger and hand movements on any instrument or even tool.
However, it is especially designed for strengthening the finger dexterity and movement. Now, if someone could only invent something that would quickly toughen finger tips for string pressure and movement instead of having to impatiently wait for callouses to form on our finger tips. THAT WOULD BE GREAT. Oh, I finally have my callouses, so my fingertip endurance is improving and not as sore. WO!

Aching hands but worth it...,
By I've had the medium tension version for over a year and I have seen my grip and finger strength improve. I cannot stress enough how great a design that allows you to work individual fingers is. Although I still need to work on my pinkies (Yeah I know, I haven't worked the pinkies as much as I should have!). So until they are stronger, I will keep this model around, despite moving up to the Gripmaster Pro Hand Strengthening System, Heavy Tension (9 Pounds per Finger). Well worth the money if you want to improve your grip and finger strength. Also works great as a stress reliever!

Gripmaster Hand Exerciser Red, Medium Tension (7-Pounds per Finger)
I bought this with the callous builders. Although a few people mentioned that the builders were helpful inside a week, I haven't seen it. They do toughen up the skin on you fingers but not like rocks. I suggest doing reps, 20-80 depending on your strength and tenderness, only a few times every other 2-3 days. Doing excessive repetitions can lead to Carpal tunnel. It's s good tool for strength training but again use sparingly.
