Very good for the money!,
By 24/7 woodworker (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: JOHNSON AccuLine Pro 40-6500 Manual-Leveling Rotary Laser Level with Soft-Sided Padded Carrying Case (Tools & Home Improvement)
After returning a couple of similar brands of lasers from Lowes and HD I settled on this one hoping it would be better and it was. It feels like it is built better if it is dropped and the accuracy is great. I was worried that it was manual, but it is so easy to set up to get level. I was able to see the line while doing a ceiling with the sun blaring right in on the line. So far I have no complaints with this laser at all.

Check calibration,
This review is from: JOHNSON AccuLine Pro 40-6500 Manual-Leveling Rotary Laser Level with Soft-Sided Padded Carrying Case (Tools & Home Improvement)
The first level I received was out of calibration. On receiving a second I checked the calibration several times and found varying results, most within tolerance. In any case, be sure to check it and be sure to check the level bubbles when in use. It is difficult to use outdoors as the spot mode is the brightest (The rotating line is worthless outdoors) and jumps when moving it instead of a slow movement so it is difficult to spot it on your rod (and you need the remote otherwise you are running back and forth to move the dot). In my experience , the self leveling devices are consistently more accurate. the "Robotoolz"(comes with remote) is a great tool for nearly the same price but does not have the vertical line nor rotates continually. But the motor moves the spot to any location you want it. For stuff like outdoor form setting it works great for an inexpensive unit.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: JOHNSON AccuLine Pro 40-6500 Manual-Leveling Rotary Laser Level with Soft-Sided Padded Carrying Case (Tools & Home Improvement)
I already have a DeWalt Laser with automatic level but needed one that would do a slope for large field grading and digging for drain lines. The Johnson AccuLine's accuracy is very close to my $1200 DeWalt and will activate the Dewalt's detector. Plus it has a little slope wheel so I can dial in just the slope I need. After that every stick measurement is the same number from the slope's beginning to end. The Johnson AccuLine is well-made and uses a standard tripod of which I have several. Overall it has been a smart purchase. I am very pleased.
