Highly detailed 1/48 scale assembly model kit of the Grumman TBF Avenger, a single-engine torpedo-bomber employed by the United States Navy and Marine Corps in World War II. This beautifully detailed Accurate Miniature 1/48 scale assembly kit features the TBF-1C/TBM-1C ("M" is the Navy designation for aircrafts produced by General Motors) Avenger flown by the student-pilot crew of the ill-fated Flight 19, which disappeared on December 5, 1945, during a United States Navy-authorized overwater navigation training flight from Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale, Florida. All 14 airmen on the flight were lost, as well as 13 crew members of a PBM Mariner flying boat, which exploded in midair while searching for the flight. Navy investigators concluded that Flight 19 became disoriented and crashed when the aircraft ran out of fuel, but some had speculated that the flight was lost in the Bermuda Triangle. This kit comes with decals for all five aircrafts of ill-fated Flight 19.
