4.0 out of 5 stars You should be pleased
I've had one for a month now & I'm quite pleased with it. It's true the sensors are not small: the size of a pecan I suppose, and they come with a half oz. counterweight to stick on the opposite side of the wheel (or just have the wheel rebalanced).

Put it on my 2007 Silverado with a camper (tire pressure is critical!) and I really like the continuous...

3.0 out of 5 stars Bigger and not to portable as expected!, May 13, 2010

This review is from: Accutire MS-4378GB Remote Tire Pressure Monitor System for Auto and Trailer (Automotive)
The photos give a different impression about its real size, its bigger than expected, bigger than a regular mouse, also the valve cap are so big that you need to use wheel balance weight chip thanks to that this TPMS is not portable as expected.

I was expecting to use it on trips but not daily cause the caps look big and can be easily stolen.

In order to use it as I want (portable), i will look for others wheels balance weight chips that can be portable and have some spares.

Look for my share picture.

Hope this review can help.

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage - do NOT buy this unit, December 21, 2010

Ordered this a couple of days ago and it showed up last night. I was excited - seemed like everything I needed to retrofit a TPM system onto my older car. I'm bad about remembering to check the tire pressures, so for $80, I figured it'd be a good deal. Boy was I wrong.

First the good: the unit display is pretty well made, and the kit instructions are actually pretty decent. They also conveniently include a set of lead stick-on weights to balance the transmitters. The transmitters are pretty big; they replace the caps on the Schrader valves on your car. Each is about the size of an iPhone "cube" charger - the kind the comes with your iPhone... Huge, but not really that bad.

Now the bad: I followed the setup instructions explicitly; note that the units are NOT sync'd out of the box, and you do have to run through the "pairing" procedure. It's really easy, since you have to open each transmitter to remove the battery insulation tab that keeps them "shut off" while the unit is waiting for you on the store shelf. All programming entails is putting the unit in program mode (hold up & down for a few seconds until a tire blinks), select the right tire with up or down, and then install the battery into the matching tire cap. When you get all four paired, you hold up & down together, and the unit goes into "working" mode.

The problem? The unit refused to read the sensors. All four would pair successfully. Once installed on the car, there'd always be one (and it varied!) that would lose sync with the receiver. I couldn't actually get all four tires to work at the same time. Three out of four was the best I could do...and I have a small car - a VW Beetle!

After an hour of pairing and re-pairing the transmitters and receivers, without managing to get it to sync up to all four transmitters simultaneously, I gave up and returned the unit to Amazon.

Do yourself a favor and buy a better quality unit and stay away from this cheap piece of junk.

This review is from: Accutire MS-4378GB Remote Tire Pressure Monitor System for Auto and Trailer (Automotive)
I bought the Accutire ms-4378gb to put on my new 5th wheel trailer. I had it all set as per instructions. While in rural Quebec i looked at my display feeling good about my purchase. A car pulled up to me and told me i had a problem. my right rear tire was missing. the only thing left on my rim was the bead of the tire and my tpms cap.. i went back to my truck and the display still showed 68 1/2 lbs ( with no tire) the tire came apart bent and broke my fender causing damage. don't trust it if you have one. jim kneup/ tucson az

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work on Trailers, July 14, 2010
This review is from: Accutire MS-4378GB Remote Tire Pressure Monitor System for Auto and Trailer (Automotive)
Had this on a trailer where the tires were about 22' from the sending unit. Despite the documentation saying the range is up to 40', it would only rarely, if ever, pick up the sending unit signals. This might work on a car where the receiver is much closer to the transmitters, but it was worthless in my situation. I returned it.

This unit has never been able to read any of my trailer tires unless I hook it up inside the trailer. It is worthless while driving down the road. They sent me a replacement and it is just as bad as the original. I spent a couple of bucks to replace the batteries, more good money flushed away. Since I had my trailer tires balanced with the sensors on, I can't just throw them away. They are now expensive valve caps. Don't waste your money, these are junk.

I guess you get what you pay for. I received this product and after about 30 minutes was able to get the pressure sensors registered and reading on the receiver/monitor. I set the limits and installed the sensors on the tires. Unfortunately only two read pressure, the other two don't. So since I have four tires on my trailer, not two, I get to throw this away. Now the quality system I should have bought in the first place got a little more expensive. Oh well, live and learn.

2.0 out of 5 stars No real time readings., July 13, 2011

This review is from: Accutire MS-4378GB Remote Tire Pressure Monitor System for Auto and Trailer (Automotive)
The manual states that it can read the pressure real time by switching to the appropriate mode . Unfortunately this is very wrong. I tested this many times and it takes about 10-15min to get the actual pressure in the tire. In that time I have the chance to check the tire pressure manually and more accurately. if you leave it to operate automatically it takes over 3hrs to catch any pressure difference!!. Totally unsafe! One of the sensors also went out after about 3 months of usage.

Put it on my 2007 Silverado with a camper (tire pressure is critical!) and I really like the continuous monitoring capability. It reads out each individual tire pressure in psi, going thru the entire cycle in about a minute. There's an led light sequence with a 'red light' warning if the tire pressure falls below the minimum that you set. I've had no sensing problems whatever.

The system is transferable I plan to switch it over to my Tacoma in winter with it's alternate set of wheels and snow tires, saving me the $85 cost of TPMS reprogramming that would be required to reset the OEM TPMS system to new wheels (twice a year!).

Really for the cost I think it's a pretty good system!!

Got the pressure okay if sitting still. When moving it would only monitor two to three tires. Sent it back.
