This used to be sold by Sears for $8.95 on sale. Now they only carry the oddly shaped version that is of zero use to many motorcyclists. The only other source that I've found for the real deal, as this is, would be Road Gear and they get about $25-$30 for it. When I found it at Amazon for half that, I did the only sensible thing: I bought TWO of them and placed them in cold storage right away. They are the absolute BEST tool for checking air in standard streetbike rims with the valve stem that points directly at the axle. Can't go wrong, great tool at a great price AND they are available. That may be the biggest plus right there.

I ordered 2 of these, one for myself and one for a friend. We needed this style of gauge to check the air pressure on our motorcycles with dual front disk brakes. Unfortunaltely both of them have failed. Mine worked for a few times accurately, but suddenly began to read about 40 psi above the actual pressure. I unsuccessfully tried to reset the gauge by removing the battery. The other gauge never worked properly. It shows all '7's every time you try to use it. I have since replaced my gauge with one bought at Wally World. It is marketed by Slime and has a short hose for reaching in tight places, has a back light, and several other useful features and costs less than the Accutire units.

I read the reviews before purchasing two of these. One for me, one for my brother. We're both motorcyclists and it's a pain to check pressure with a pencil gauge, and you should check your pressure before every ride. One of the two I received leaked air internally immediately and gave false readings. I returned that one and got a replacement. This one stopped working after about 4 uses. I fiddled with the batteries but it was still dead. I smashed it to bits. I'm afraid to ask if my brothers works. The price was great and the unit felt good in my hand but like so many others that bought these they just don't work. Do not buy one !!!

Sad to say, this is not a good product. All plastic, difficult to get the head on the stem of the tire. I tossed the unit in the trash and purchase a Sears unit which is far and away better and cheaper. Not the sellers fault, just a badly designed unit.

Digital readout, pretty simple to use. I don't run a lab so I can't speak on accuracy or precision/repeatability, however there is one area we all can see. From the design you would think you can hold the rubber part and use the tool. Nope. You hold the metal part to push onto the air valve, otherwise it won't seat. So the rubber is in the wrong place.

Using this on a 2005 Roadstar. It is possible to use on the rear only if you bend the (small/stubby, straight) valve stems over a bit. Still hard to get a good seal every time. Gauge reads fine when you get a good seal however. Would like to see a gauge with a 100-110 degree head. Just a bit of a bend to avoid the brake rotors and still fit the stem.

Rating: pretty good gauge, bit bulky and won't fit all bikes. Recommended with reservations.

I needed a replacement for my 10 year old digital tire gauge, so I thought I'd find something that would really meet my needs. Since I ride a motorcycle most of the time, and on long distant rides, tire pressure is something that if not done right will ruin your trip.

I was going to get a backlit version, but saw this one. Accessing my R1200RT rear tire's valve is a bit difficult with the panniers and double brake discs. This looked like a good buy.

Highlights

1. Seems accurate. I tried several analog and digital gauges on my car, and this was spot on. I tried it on my bike, and apparently, I need some air!
2. Battery appears to be replaceable, which was the issue with my trusty old one.
3. Handle grip is nice.
4. Huge numerals for those who have poor near vision.

The not so highlights

1. It's plastic. Sure, that makes it light and probably cheap to make, but I suspect that 90º bend is going to be a problem. You might torque it a bit getting it off the valve stem, which might break it. But it hasn't broken yet, but I'm concerned.
2. It's hard to read in the dark. Make that next to impossible. OK, I could have purchased another version, but I'm just mentioning it.
3. There is no audible beep when it captures the pressure. But, it's something I'll just have to accept.

Overall, for the price, it appears to be a very well designed gauge for a motorcyclist. Interestingly, I tried it on my car, and the angle precluded me from using it with the numbers facing me.

This gauge isn't perfect, but it's pretty nice. I wish it were all metal, but we'll see if I mess it up. It's now in my tank bag, always available for use.

OK, I purchased this for my bike, because I had a good experience with another accutire pressure gauge.
But this one "sucks". It worked ok when I first got it, but after 2 years the battery went dead and I only used it maybe 20 times. My other accutire pressure gauge is 10 years old and I'm still on the original battery. So I purchased a new battery and found out you have to take this whole thing apart, to get to where the battery is buried. So I take it apart very carefully, not to lose these very small parts and replaced the battery. So happy with my battery install, I go out to my garage and try it out and all I get is 1 psi on the lcd, so I try a different car, same thing 1 psi. This is a disposable item, when the battery dies you just throw it away and buy a new one. No thanks, I will keep using my analog pressure gauge.
