A great match for both professional settings and sporty casual couture, this Accutron Gemini stainless steel men's chronograph (model 26C04) matches an elegant design with the powerfully precise, 25 jewel Valjoux 7750 automatic movement. This large-sized, round watch features a rounded, stepped bezel that frames a white patterned dial face. It's complemented by three chronograph subdials, luminous dagger hands, small minute/seconds indexes, large day and date window at 3 o'clock, and tachymeter readings around the exterior (which can be used to measure time over distance). It's completed by a stainless steel bracelet band with locking deployment buckle. Other features include a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, screw-back with exhibition window, and water resistance to 50 meters (165 feet)--suitable for swimming but not for diving.

An automatic (or self-winding) watch is fitted with a device (rotor) that automatically winds the spring by using the force of gravity. It needs no battery, but it will stop if you have been physically inactive for an extended period of time--as long as you're moving, the watch will stay powered. Swiss watchmaker Abraham-Louis Perrelet invented the self-winding mechanism in 1770. It worked on the same principle as a modern pedometer, and was designed to wind as the owner walked.

This is a dressier style chrono that is an exceptional value considering the fact that it uses the same movement (Valjoux 7750) found in a Tag Heuer Carrera ($2695). Also, the picture is deceiving. The dial is silver toned with a neat pattern. The tachymetre is in white on the outer edge.

This is a fantastic execution of the classic 7750 and represents a great value. It's my third accutron, and all of them have excellent fit and finish. It should be mentioned that the date cannot be changed while it is advancing (about 10p-2a) which is most likely the problem the negative reviewers were having. My only complaint is that it is very thick. 15mm is significantly thicker than my seiko monster, itself a tall watch(12mm).

I ordered this watch as a Christmas gift for my husbad. It is beautiful, and I especially like the automatic self winding function. Unfortunately, the date and time could not be set and I had to return the watch.
