5.0 out of 5 stars Gets the job done
When the doorbell rang, we only heard it downstairs. This gadget works like a charm, with no wires. All you need is an available outlet and you're set. I especially like that you can adjust the volume and choose which room to keep it in, and move it if necessary. I have it in my bedroom and by closing my door, I can make sure that the doorbell doesn't bother the kids...

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work with our doorbell.
This item is identical to Heath Zenith Wireless Plug-In Door Chime Extender, White #SL-6157-D. I ordered the Zenith and it didn't work. A manufacture tech support individual walked me through set-up, but ended up saying that I would not work with our doorbell. He suggested replacing the existing doorbell! The Zenith wireless extender was returned w/o difficulty and I...

The Zenith wireless extender was returned w/o difficulty and I ordered the Ace hardware model, only to find it exactly identical the the returned item, only packaging was different. Ace hardware accepted the return (minus shipping and a restock fee).
These extenders do not work with all chimes.

This produce does exactly what it is supposed to. My remote unit is located about 40 feet from the transmitter and always repeats the chime. There is no wiring involved which makes it nice. However, I did have to use the option of taking the microphone sensor out of the sensing unit and put it inside the doorbell chime to make it work properly.

I was so glad I found this product! So easy to use. I just set the sensor pack on top of my doorbell and pluged the extention doorbell into the room I am usually in at the far end of my house. It took less than a minute and it works perfect. It you are slightly hard of hearing or have a large house this is a God send.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great, June 24, 2011
This review is from: WIRELESS CHIME EXTENDER [Misc.] (Misc.)
This is a great product. Couldn't hear the door bell chimes in the downstairs living and office area of our home. Found this device - took 10 minutes from opening the package, putting in the batteries and puttng the portable chime unit where we wanted it downstairs to have a fully functioning door chime extension. No wiring. Just mount (with the included two sided tape or screws) or lay the transmitter unit next to, or on, your existing door chimes. The transimitter unit looks good and is small. I put it on top of my existing door chime housing and can hardly tell its there. The chime unit, which plugs into any electrical socket, is also pretty small and not unattractive at all. And, we can easily move the chimes to the garage, deck or patio - any place where there is an electrical socket that is within about 100 feet of the transmitter. The only thing that I found to be a slight problem is that the chimes are pretty loud and I turned the volume all the way down but still wish it would go just a little lower. There just is no eaiser way to extend you existing door bell chimes than this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars works but poorly, June 14, 2008
This review is from: WIRELESS CHIME EXTENDER [Misc.] (Misc.)
This is the second unit I have purchased. The first unit worked right out of the box but had poor sensitivity. The transmitter had to be placed directly on the bells in order for it to work, after a few months it stopped working all together.

The second unit has the same sensitivity problem, but is working for now.

We discovered that we couldn't hear our existing door bell in the addition to our home. Thank heaven for cell phones - we had people call us to tell us they were at the front door. We wanted a quick easy solution rather than run additional wire to the new part of the house. After reading the reviews on how easy this was we gave it a shot. This thing has great range - that is not a problem. The problem was the microphone wouldn't pick up the sound from the existing door bell. I installed it within 1/2 inch of the top of the existing door bell with no luck. I tried it to the side. No luck. This does have a removable microphone I ended up using. I actually had to take the cover off the door bell and put the microphone inside the cover. (This is after I adjusted the sensitivity to max.) Perhaps I got a bad microphone, but this was far from plug and play. It ends well, it works now and we shouldn't miss hearing the door bell again.
***Updated*** This stopped working after about 6 months. No amount of tinkering will get it to work. I've change batteries, repositioned the sensor, moved the receiver closer, etc. with no luck. We're not looking for another solution. I'd change this to one star but it won't let me.
