Glides With a Catch, November 16, 2011
This review is from: Ace Carpet Base Nail-on Glide (Misc.)
The stick on felt pads kept coming off or moving, so my next choices seemed to be gluing on the felt pieces or buying these carpet base nail on glides. Attachment to the chair legs was easy. I pushed the center pin into the center of the chair leg bottom by hand and then nailed them in using the side of my tack hammer.
I was pleased by how easily these glides are to attach but...
When I turned the chair over, I noticed that because the legs are angled and not perpendicular to the seat, the aluminum rims of the glides contact the hardwood floor, not the center carpeting. Not a good thing. I'd rather have wood sliding on wood than the aluminum rims.
If you're buying these for chair legs that aren't angled, they should work very well. For me it's back to the drawing board, hoping the glides uninstall easily, revisiting my felt pads/glue idea.
