Customer Reviews

The handle and pommel insert are obvious plastic, but the blade is decorative.

If your looking for a decorative dagger for a collection or even for a costume this is definitely a very good choice.
Amazon Customer
The blade is nice looking (though the design is printed on) and the weight is good.

Ok, so I ordered this dagger a couple days ago. First off, it shipped and arrived ahead of schedule (5 stars for that). It comes packaged in a cool box that arrives in a bubble wrap envelope (again, 5 stars). Even before I opened it I knew this thing was going to be big. I was under the delusion it was about half as long. (Another 5 stars). Right out of the box, you know you just struck gold (or steel, if you will). The scabbard is a nice hard plastic with nice designs engraved on it. When you take it out of the sheath, the first thing you notice it the Damascus style metal. Then you notice down near the crosshilt it says on one side CHINA and on the other STAINLESS STEEL. DO NOT GET MISLED!! The description may say Damascus style blade, it is not! It is just stainless steel with cool patterns engraved upon it. If it was a REAL Damascus blade it would be a special kind of steel (neither stainless nor carbon) and would have been folded over several times in the process of making it, creating that trademark Damascus rose pattern that is so conveniently (if not convincingly) engraved on the blade. (On a side note, the number of times it is folded is called a density ladder; some of them can go as high as 2000 and up!) But that does not make the overall product less awesome. (So, three out of five stars for the blade. Really a let-down). But for this price, what do you expect?

Overall, 4 out of five stars.

So, if you're looking for a nice, not-so-functional dagger, I would recommend this.

And, oh, yeah... I do actually say holy jumpin catfish. Don't hate.

I ordered this for my 11-year-old son. It is a great dagger, especially at this price. My son particularly liked the etching on the blade. Only the tip is sharp.

I was highly impressed with the quality and speedy shipping of the item. Upon purchase I did not realize that this dagger was as long as it really is. The blade's sharpness is an imagery effect because even though it looks freshly sharpened, the blade is dull and can not cause any damage unless you are really trying to! Which makes it perfect for a display on the wall or tied on your waist at a renn faire.

There is too much plastic on it. Not very stable, the blade part is nice, but I expected the sheathe and the handle to be leather or something like a real dagger would have.

I ordered two of these as props for a film, along with a ton of other weapons and armor items. This is one of the highest quality items I received, despite being one of the lowest priced. I was very surprised by the quality, to be honest. It's very refreshing. If one were so inclined, they could replace the plastic handle for a wooden one, sharpen the blade, and it would be a pretty good actual dagger.

Definitely worth the price and more. Do not hesitate to buy this item.

Cheap, plastic-y and very light.. I hang it on my wall, the blade's texture is kind of nice, but this dagger is not pleasant to wield in any way... It's just too light. The strange thing in the pommel looks like a pumpkin... Not sure what that's about.
It's not terrible, but clearly very cheaply made.

This is a great piece of craftswo/manship. It's aesthetically pleasing, isn't too heavy and the black handle and double-edged nature made it the perfect Athame. I love the blade designs, too, although it should be noted that the color in the etchings is a very loose paint which rubs off fairly easy. This is not a problem for me and I may even just end up rubbing them off so I can get the real benefit of a shine to the blade.

The thing that I didn't like about it is the plastic stone in the bottom of the handle. It feels and makes the item look more "cheap/novelty." I will probably replace it with some magickally relevant gemstone (maybe Lapis Lazuli or unprocessed Citrine) but this doesn't seem as though it should be too difficult. Other than this, I'm very pleased to have this item as a part of my temple. =)

*Note - Someone said in another review that only the tip is sharpened. This is not the case. Both the edges of the blade are sharp enough to cut skin if you weren't careful with it, and the sharpness runs almost completely down to the handle. Of course anyone serious about collecting these sorts of things will be careful anyways, but it's worth a heads-up.
