"Get Back In Line" from the new album The World Is Yours

Biography

Motörhead have never JUST been the best rock'n'roll band in the world. They've never JUST been the loudest. Or the hardest. Or the toughest. Or the bad-ass-est. No...Motörhead are also a lifestyle.

Motörhead are a mindset, a belief, a way to live your life, a way to both survive and beat a society that sometimes seems intent on grinding you down.

That is why Motörhead have chosen now, in what might… Read more in Amazon's Motörhead Store

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

They're still going, of course, having earned a similar place in the affections of the British public to that of the Queen Mother. Ace of Spades is the reason for Motörhead's high standing. Or, to be precise, the title track of this album is the reason. "Ace of Spades," along with Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild," is the definitive heavy-metal biker anthem, and Lemmy's midsong bellow of "And that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live forever" is declaration of intent that has rung down the ages. That Lemmy has since given every appearance of obstinate immortality does not detract from it in the slightest. --Andrew Mueller

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully fast, painful, adrenalized...a classic, December 1, 1999

This review is from: Ace of Spades (Audio CD)
Castle has done a superb job (as usual) with this reissue. Not only do you get the entire great "Ace of Spades" album remastered, you also get a cool B side (Dirty Love) and two lost classics including the duet with Girlschool "Please Don't Touch" which is basically the soundtrack to Grease on speed, whiskey, parole and a bed of nails. Motorhead is almost a way of life more than it's a band (and Lemmy is a truly revered folk hero in some circles) but, as a BAND, Motorhead never sounded better, tighter, or more amphetaminized than on Ace of Spaces, without doubt their best all-original studio album. Casual fans (like fans of modern metal who want to go back and find the influences of say Megadeth and Metallica) might be better off with No Remorse, which has all the hits. But Ace of Spades belongs in every classics-of-metal collection, alongside Uriah Heep's first album, Judas Priest's Sad Wings of Destiny, Slayer's Reign in Blood, Metallica's Ride The Lightning, etc. Motorhead took the Cream-type trio concept and turned it up to eleven. Hundred.

5.0 out of 5 stars No pussies allowed...., August 27, 2001

This review is from: Ace of Spades (Audio CD)
Anybody who doesn't like this should be whipped & beaten with iron bars and bike chains. Over twenty years now and it ain't dated at all. I like ALL the tunes including the three bonus ones they added to the CD. My personal faves; "Dance" and "(We Are) The Road Crew". 'Limp Bizcut' and those phony 'Rage Against the Machine' posers NOT allowed... Lemmy rules, man...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best offering from Lemmy and the Gang, April 18, 2000
This review is from: Ace of Spades (Audio CD)
For anyone who likes metal or plays metal, somewhere down the road they have been introduced to Motorhead. This album is the essential Motorhead album as far as studio albums go. It has power, speed, anger and Fast Eddie's great blues-influenced licks and solos. All of the songs capture Motohead's live sound which is hard to do in the studio. The tracks have a rawness about them that is honest, there are obviously little to no overdubs or added parts to most songs. IN essence, it sounds like it was recorded live. The album starts off with perhaps the bands most well-known track, "Ace of Spades". The album has more to offer than that however. There are the boogie-beat inspired "Dance", the backstage sights of "Jailbait", the ode to his crew "We are the Road Crew" and my personal favorite, "Love me like a Reptile" which offers us Lemmy's perspective on love. This Album does not have a bad track and they all have that signature Motorhead sound which just makes the whole album rock. If you don't know Motorhead or need to be re-introduced to one of the greatest Rock/Metal bands who have influenced the Likes of Metallica and Armored Saint, get this CD.
