I love this laptop in fact I'm using it now to type this review. This laptop works really good. I haven't had any problems with mine. I just wanted to say everybody's experience is different.

Vista makes it less than desirable, the plan was to use it just for basic tasks. You get what you've paid for, but there are better choices even for inexpensive laptops.
This cheap system had an appeal with 17-inch screen, but half-way through it's warranty period the power jack became loose. With battery performance below the average, scrambling to position the power jack for charging every couple hours is a problem.
Since Acer does not have brick-and-mortar service locations the prospect of using mail-in service is problematic at best. The computerized phone system for customer service is awful. I'm going fix this issue locally at my own expense, but will not buy Acer next time mainly due to the lack of customer service locations.
