TMC102T input devices include a full-size pen, an Acer Fine Touch keyboard, and a touchpad pointing device. The unit’s bright, sharp 10.4-inch, active-matrix display with digitizer offers 1,024 x 768 resolution at 16 million colors. The display automatically converts from notebook to tablet mode when rotated.

The TMC102T's 800 MHz Intel Pentium III processor-M ULV provides potent computing crunch for a variety of stylus- or keyboard-driven productivity tasks. Featuring a 20 GB hard drive and 256 MB of memory, the TMC102T provides expansive data storage and makes it easily to run multiple applications simultaneously.

Also included in the 11.6-pound unit are an external USB 24x CD-ROM drive, a smart card reader, a 10/100Base-T Fast Ethernet interface, a 56K V.90 data/fax modem, and two lithium-ion batteries (one spare). The TMC102T includes two USB ports, a FireWire and infrared port, a VGA video-out interface, a PC Card slot, and a built-in speaker.

Bundled software includes Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, Microsoft Office Pack and Microsoft Reader, and Norton AntiVirus.

Get ready for a fundamentally new type of notebook computer. The introduction of the Tablet PC will change and enhance the way you use your computer. While the official launch of Windows XP Tablet Edition isn't until November 7th, I located a vendor selling the new Acer convertible Tablet PC a couple of weeks ago.

I reviewed the TMC102Ti. The TMC102T simply has a few less options (Ti has built-in wireless), which I have highlighted in the specs below. The Acer TMC102Ti Tablet has impressed me beyond my wildest dreams. I must admit that I had never owned an Acer notebook prior to this purchase. And while I've heard mixed reviews of their reliability and support, I feel confident this new Tablet PC is going to hold up well. I purchased this new Acer Tablet just over two weeks ago and could not imagine going back to a normal notebook. But don't take my word for it. Read the full review and take the plunge yourself.
