Knocked my socks off---solid monitor for a great price!,

This review is from: Acer AL1916W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor (Electronics)
Granted, I had pretty low expectations for a $200 widescreen monitor but I'm really impressed. The picture is great, it's easy to set-up and adjust, and there are absolutely no dead pixels. I use it for business applications, web browsing, and playing DVDs. I'm not a gamer but I can't imagine any problems there either as the refresh rate is plenty good for videos. It only took a couple minutes to unpack, plug-in, and set-up. I've had it for just over two months with absolutely no problems. I'm quite pleased with this purchase. Highly recommended!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Acer AL1916W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I am not pleased with this purchase. The only nice thing I can say about this monitor is that; the fit and finish are super. Controls are great and the OSD is great. UI is intuitive effecient.
My complaints are the backlight dims midscreen, there is a rippling shimmer at all resolutions/refresh, the overall brightness is lacking and color syncing to any other monitor is nearly impossible. Colors cannot be set to an accurate representation...period. If you have low expectations and just want an affordable widescreen this would be a good choice. If you need a bright monitor with accurate color display, I would recommend a pass.

Where is customer support?,

I bought this monitor to be used on my Windows 2000 machine. It turns out this monitor works perfectly only at 1440X900 resolution. (as a 19" inch wide screen, this resolution is like a standard). And there is no driver for Windows 2000.
Acer web site only has the driver for Windows XP. I understand the limitation of technical. So, it is fine if there is no support for Windows 2000. I end up buying a new XP PC from Dell ($460) to use with this monitor. However, I posted a question to Acer to ask about a Windows 2000 driver. There is no reply. Later, I asked another question (through email) to Acer. And there is no reply again. I am very disappointed with this lack of customer support. If the company doesn't care about a customer, I am not going to buy any more product from them. After all, the monitor is excellent. But what if something goes wrong and I need technical support.

I bought this monitor on clearance, very excited about the great deal I got. What a disappointment. I didn't like, but accepted the refresh that froze up the screen every single time I exited a game or signed on. What really got me though was the annoying line that formed on the left side of the screen. It caused a discoloration with everything I did, and was very annoying. I would have to unplug the monitor for a couple minutes, then plug it back in to get rid of the line. A couple minutes later though, the line reappeared.
I took the monitor back to the store and was told someone else had turned on back in for being faulty. They ordered me a new one, then told me a couple days later that it wasn't made anymore. By the time this is all done and the store orders me an equivilant product, I'll have been without a computer monitor for over a week all because of this lousy monitor. It seems like a good deal for the price, but stay away from Acer.

Fantastic for the price!,
This review is from: Acer AL1916W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor (Electronics)
So far my organization has ordered 90+ of these monitors and everyone seems to love them! Not a one has come in with any issues and we have been using them for approximately 6 weeks. We purchased in bulk from CDW and still paid more than this price, so this is a terrific opportunity to get a good office use LCD at a great price. Spreadsheets look awsome and now it is much easier to split my widows on my screen

I liked this monitor - easy to set up, looked fantastic. Unfortunately, I woke up one morning and it wouldn't display anything. Looked online and found out this problem was all too common - the power supplies fail on Acer products. After having to return my kid's Thomas toys and my pet food, this is just another "Made In China" disaster for me.

I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers are complaining about. I have none of the problems about which they are complaining:
--the colors are by no means washed out --there is no edge shimmer or any other shimmer --color syncing to other monitors is spot on --color accuracy seems very good, but I have not evaluated this thoroughly I use this monitor with a DVI cable and maybe that is why my experience is so much better than that of others. This is the best monitor I've ever had and it cost far less than the most expensive monitor that I've purchased (albeit many years ago). Although I do plan to buy an additional monitor that is professional grade for digital photo work, I also plan to buy another one of these monitors.

Good Monitor...For the Price,

I bought this monitor to replace a small CRT model. Prior to this purchase, I bought an Optiquest for my computer at the office. That one was not a widescreen model. I bought this Acer because of its price, not because of the widescreen aspect.
I don't like the Acer as well as the Optiquest. As others have pointed out, the colors seem washed out compared to the Optiquest, and there is a very annoying shimmer at the edges of all of the windows you open up. It's certainly an improvement over the CRT machine, but I really think you can do better with a different brand/model. I bought this machine online. Monitors may be something best checked out in person before one makes the decision whether to buy it or not. Mildly recommended, mainly based on price.

Hi,
I been using my Acer Monitors for almost a month now and I have to say that I'm very happy with them, they are very bright and the colors looks nice. I have two of them on my desktop at the office, because they are widescreen its sometimes hard to go from one end to the other with the mouse, but that's the only inconvinience that I see on them. Goog buy, great products, excellent price.

Good for a year,
This review is from: Acer AL1916W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I got this monitor at Walmart and it was fantastic for my needs.
The monitor only lasted just over a year. That is unacceptable. About a week ago the monitor would not wake up. It powered on but would not come on. Several cable and monitor swaps later I narrowed it down to a bad monitor. I replaced it recently with a 23" HP monitor for about the same price. |
