This netbook is great its got the newest dual-core atom N570 chip great battery life and nice color selection. After buying this from amazon.com they emailed me with a promo discount for windows 7 anytime upgrade so my upgrade to windows 7 home premium cost $24 + $24 for the 2gb memory upgrade the whole thing was about $380. after about a month and a half the only con ive noticed so far is it tends to get really hot on the left bottom side. nothing new with laptop/netbooks though. a good cooler can always fix that for $10-20.

I bought mine at a retail store right after it came out. I didn't like the Microsoft Tax being attached to it, the lack of Bluetooth, or the amount of RAM, but for $250 I figured I could deal. I walked out of the store with a 2GB stick in hand. I only turned the thing on with the 1GB stick long enough to see that it would post and indeed it did.

I plugged in an external DVD drive, booted it up to CloneZilla, copied the original image to my desktop, then I booted it up to Kubuntu never once having seen Windows 7 run on it.

Everything works in Linux without an issue except for the SD card reader - that's an annoyance, but not a must have for me.

The lack of Bluetooth really did annoy me. Acer advertises the option of getting this thing with Bluetooth, but I can't find a way to actually buy it that way. Instead I bought 6230 IEEE 802.11n (draft) Bluetooth 3.0 - Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Combo Adapter (Bulk) and replaced the factory card. It works great. Since I'm a biker and I've actually ate pavement - twice - with this thing in my backpack I decided to replace the spindle HDD with a OCZ 60 GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch Solid 3 SSD Series (SLD3-25SAT3-60G). My battery life is improved, it boots and shuts down quicker, and really, I don't do a whole lot with this machine but browse, but I have put some Humble Bundle games on here and run ZSNES with a PS3 control paired with Bluetooth and it plays the ZSNES stuff like a dream.

I actually had this given to me as a gift. I was going to some school and was wondering about buying a laptop. I didn't want to buy another desktop replacement laptop (I'm happy with my home system) and didn't want to haul around a large computer to class to take notes on.

I never really thought about Netbooks honestly. Turned out, I'm a believer!

I have Office 2010 running on this little bad boy with a number of other little programs. (Steam, Chrome, Media Monkey, VLC, etc.) I have been PLEASANTLY surprised at how effective this little computer is. I didn't upgrade the Starter Win 7 to Home. I didn't really see the point. I didn't upgrade the ram. Again, why?

It handles everything that I need it to do. I can type in OneNote all day at class (about 8 hrs) and not have any problem with battery life. I can go to the local library and connect to the WiFi with no problems. I can come to my hotel room and connect on the RJ45 cable with no problem.

This has been a real dream for me. I have a small back-up hard drive that I connect to share music and movies from and to perform backups. I watch Netflix when I'm relaxing. I play Steam games when I'm looking for some fun. I get on Skype and chat with the kids and wife. I couldn't ask for a better machine at the price that I paid. PLUS, I don't have to carry around a huge obnoxious laptop. (Even the 15" ones are cumbersome in my opinion)

Two thumbs up!

I bought this product in March 2011, and the battery life slowly decreased. Also, since it's only 1 GB, it's EXTREMELY SLOW. It'd be REALLY hard to add memory to it, because you can't just unscrew the back, you have to take apart the whole keyboard and risk breaking it. Windows 7 Starter sucks, it doesn't have a lot of features that Windows 7 Home Premium has, like simply having a wallpaper on your desktop. It's a pain to install Windows 7 Home Premium because you have to take all your programs out and put them on discs and install Home Premium and then put everything back in. DO NOT BUY THIS!!! I'm going back to Dells and Hps. GOODBYE ACER!

You should not rate a Netbook because of lack of performance. Netbooks where not designed to play games like Call of Duty or Play HD videos. they are for "Every day use" not for demanding jobs. so my advice to you buyers are If you are just looking at the web or doing email you buy a Netbook. If you are making big photos, get 2gb of RAM from crucial and install it then get a 50" TV with a VGA cable also with win 7 pro (keyboard and mouse optional.) If you need it for working on big programs and gaming, get a laptop.

Anyways, the laptop does what it was advertised. a good job well done Acer. This netbook is a true netbook
