Ten days ago, I purchased my AOD270-1835 in Burgandy for $268 at Walmart.com, plus tax [approx $23] and shipping [$5]. Wow, it was a sharp looking unit. The Specs say it has improved graphics capabilities, and HDMI Out feature, and extended battery usage. That's exactly what I was looking for in this newer 10.1" unit. Unfortunately, I returned it yesterday.

The N2600 processor is sluggish - period. I swapped the RAM with a 2GB memory stick [$17] and it ran quicker. But the deal breaker was the poor graphics - soooo slow. It was choppy, very choppy. Tried out a Netflix movie and You-Tube videos. Forget it. It was very disappointing. I can't imagine why it would have an HDMI Out feauture if it can't even play seamless streaming video. I also bought a 2 Year Spill & Accident warranty for $60.00. It was a great deal. I really wanted it to meet my expectations [at least, what was advertised in its Specs], but the unit does not meet Acer's description. Regretfully, I returned it.

Owning seven different Acer netbooks and laptops personally and for my office staff [3 - 10.1" units and 4 - 11.6" units], I'm very satisfied with Acer, and it has proven to me to be just as reliable [and possessing the same quality] as my previous Dell laptops [which I was loyal to before I decided to give Acer a shot]. I have a Acer 255E [an older 10.1" model as well] that runs quicker and plays video even better [but still choppy] with an N550 processor, and it does not even have an HDMI Out feature.

In the end, I am hoping Acer will figure it out and put out a 10.1" unit that will truly run streaming video, even if it will cost a few more dollars. So, I'll just sit back and wait for Acer's newer, more improved, processor. Hopefully, it will be soon.

To say this is the worst purchase we ever made would be the understatement of the century. Didn't work from the SECOND we got it -- blank screens, horrible loading, slow -- and yet, when we tried to return it to the vendor Adorama Camera, we were told "no." Why? Because it was OPENED! That's their policy. If it's opened, you can't return it. Didn't matter that it's a piece of you know what -- if it's open, you can't return it. So now we're stuck it! AVOID! Honestly, the one we were replacing works better than this. I HATE ADORAMA CAMERA and ACER TOO!!

I am a computer consultant with 25 years of experience. Why would I get a netbook "toy"? Because it performs so well.

I bought it to play bittorrented videos and TV shows off the web: avi, mkv, mp4, divx. It plays them flawlessly. It's a perfect companion while waiting at the doctor's office, DMV, etc.

Pros:
1. Inexpensive. Under $300
2. Value: dual-core N2600 with a CPU passmark rating of 600 (P4-3.0GHz is 500), 1 GB RAM, 320 GB hdd (1 platter).
3. Compatibility. I repartitioned mine to dual-boot 7-32 and Linux Mint 13-32. Works perfectly. Put data in FAT32 partition accessible by both OSes. Wifi on/off hot-key works in Linux.
4. Easy upgrade. 2GB SIMM (1 slot available) costs $11. HDD is a little tricky, but YouTube video shows how to replace drive.
5. Well built. Seems to be built better than its price tag would indicate.
6. Dedicated page up/down keys.
7. 6 cell battery = about 5 hr. usage
8. 3 USB 2.0, 1 VGA, 1 HDMI
9. Frequent BIOS updates available.
10. Up to 2 platter 2.5" (9mm) high drive can fit. Standard 320 GB hdd is 1 platter 320 GB. I put in a 1 TB 2.5" hdd.
11. External monitor compatibility. It drives my 21" 1600x1200 resolution VGA monitor almost perfectly. "Almost" because the videocard is a little wimpy and fast moving videos have some digital lag.

Cons:
1. Glossy screen. I prefer matte finish.
2. Keys -- 80% normal size, but well-made though.
3. Heat. HWMonitor shows CPU temps at 130-140 and hdd at 120, about 10 degrees hotter than I like. Luckily you can remove bottom plastic plate and use a Cooler Master notebook cooler to drop temps 20 degrees. If you don't remove plastic plate, cooler drops temps 10 degrees. Not too bad. CPU temps never reach max (160 degrees).
4. Crapware. Yes, it's loaded with a bunch of "special offers". Use CCleaner, PC Decrapifier, etc. to remove the crap. It runs faster afterwards. I suggest using MS Security Essentials.

I bought this laptop for my daughter. It has everything that you could want from USB to HDMI. The shipping was quick and I would recommend it for someone on the go. The price was reasonable and it is a very popular device for consumers. I've owned several Acer computers and have continued to buy their products.

I've had this tablet for less than 2 years and it has forced me to reboot/repair on boot-up on a fairly regular basis. The first time this happened, the ACER tech had me reset the BIOS, but still the problem continues. And now, ACER support will not allow me to speak to a support tech because it has been too long since I purchased this - they make you search for resolutions on their website (which I always do before contacting any customer support) - no answers found. I'm off this weekend to get an HP or other laptop/tablet - something that is reliable. Pity - this just fit the bill for me and with the good reviews, I thought this would be something I could use for a while. I'll never purchase and ACER product again.

I was looking for cheap computers that I wanted for my birthday, and I guess if you buy cheap, you get cheap. I didn't know much about RAM, Processor, etc. as I do today. I thought it would be a perfect computer for my games, but turned out terrible. I updated the Ram, didn't help. The screen doesn't even work. It comes on every now and then, but it rarely does. I DO NOT consider buying this product at all.

I ordered this while on a deployment as a temporary replacement for my old laptop which had a hardware issue I couldn't fix until I got home. This came in and when turned on, behaved as if there was no OS on it. After an hour of live chat with customer service and no results, I took it to our civilian contractor tech guys who were going to install the OS on it. After a lot of headaches dealing with that, it turned out that Acer sent this product out minus its hard drive. This is not the first poor Acer product I've heard of, but the first Acer I've owned. As a result of this experience I will never buy an Acer product again.

Okay! I'll readily admit to not being the most Tech Savvy Computer person around but I just honestly LOVE this little computer! An Acer Aspire was recommended to me by a friend who got one as a gift and ( as everything about the ones offered by Amazon looked good by me ) I went ahead and purchased one about a year and a half ago and I've never regretted it! I use it a lot,it's never given me a problem,it does what I want it to do,and it's a lot of fun! FIVE STARS!!!

I purchased this netbook to replace an Acer Aspire One netbook that lasted for 6 years. I loved the previous netbook, it did what I wanted and was easy to carry with me on trips. Unfortunately, this replacement is nothing like my old Aspire One. It never worked as well and often crashed despite being used less often than my previous netbook. Now it won't boot up at all, after 8 months. I don't think it is worth the trouble or cost to send in for repair, so I going to purchase a Chromebook instead, hopefully with less problems.

Not recommended for a busy student life, needs additional memory. My screen had a line on it, I figured as a result of shipping and handling, that never came off. It is useful if you don't have much large memory programs to use.
