This computer is exactly what I wanted. I had been searching for a computer for a long time before I found this one. I was looking for a touchscreen computer to take advantage of windows 7's touchscreen capabilities and I was very adamant about it. I looked at several different brands like Toshiba and Hp. From what I understand Toshiba's touchscreen laptops are not very good. The screen is dim and the touchscreen features are not sensitive. Hp's touchsmart was a bit expensive and too small for my taste. There are also a lot of touchscreen notebooks which I honestly find useless because they are expensive and primarily they're not laptops. There are several features I like about this Acer laptop apart from the touchscreen which really is amazing for this price. There's Dolby home theater surround sound which take my word for it is amazing. I've watched movies on this and the sound compliments the sweet video quality. Another thing is the 4 USB ports - I've looked a lot of computers and standard is 2 and max 3. Some people might think that you don't that many but I have an external hard drive, a wireless mouse, an Mp3 player which needs a USB port to dock and laptop cooler which also needs USB cooler to turn on its fan. So in all honesty the more the merrier. Also I'm picky bout volume control I can't explain how much I hate the touch control volume buttons that beep as you increase and decrease volume and that no longer work when the computer freezes. I prefer a knob that some Toshiba models have but this one has button volume controls that don't beep which is satisfactory. Other things I can comment about are the full keyboard is a plus, sensitive mouse pad with cool features like scrolling and others you can play with, GREAT battery life. Lastly I've used this laptop everyday no joke since I got it 3 weeks ago and its fantastically durable - starts up quick, really fast, I haven't used it to its full potential but I can tell you can do a lot of apps on this computer.

This touchscreen laptop is amazing for its price. You can buy a similarly spec'd Dell for the same price W/O the touchscreen.
I've had it for a month and it hasn't given me any troubles. The only con is the bloatware. If you remove those, you have a laptop that kicks butt. As for the graphics, I've tested Resident Evil 5 on it. It can play high settings, but still works best on low to medium settings. Mine came with a stand so that the screen doesn't tilt when you use the touchscreen, and a cloth cleaner to wipe out your fingerprints. What more can you ask? Buy now!

For the price, you will not find a laptop that offers a core 2 duo processor, a 512MB graphics card, 4 GB of Memory. A touch screen is a great plus, and works wonders with windows 7. I tried to play Far Cry 2 on this laptop, I run it on close to max resolution, with all animations set to High, and it works like a charm, no slow downs whatsoever, thanks to the dedicated 512MB graphics card. I also played Dirt 2, and it works great. I am very satisfied with this laptop and would recommend it to anyone.
Pros: Core 2 duo 2.2GHz processor Dedicated 512 MB graphics card 4GB RAM Touch screen Cons: A little bulky and heavy Poor battery life

This model is a fine laptop computing-wise, but so are many these days. Yes, overall I am somewhat pleased, but there are 2 things you might want to know. 1.) There is no Bluetooth. You will find Bluetooth 2.0 specified in every review but it is a lie. Yes there is a brightly lit BT button conveniently located on the deck. But pressing it activates nothing; it brings up a BT logo with a big red "not installed" 'X' through it. The lack of BT in hardware, not software, was finally confirmed by ACER customer support after several emails. I found this falshood to be total ACER Ad-man ignorance at best, or at worst, blatant false advertising. 2.) The Win7 Touchscreen is cute, but adds Zero functionality beyond what old hackers can do with a mouse. If it's your first computer, you might like it. If you've been on these things for years it may just be annoying. All it adds is the opportunity for everyone else to try touching it to see what it does, which means you'll have fingerprint smudges all over your display, all the time. That is something it definitely doesn't need, becuase the resolution is already blurry, with poor definition, poor contrast, high-reflection, and a quirky 16:9 orientation that by default compresses any documents you vertically scroll into microfilm fonts. "So Dude, change your font!" Fair enough: But then all the windows aspects and deskcop icons are blind-people big and vertically truncated. I would recommend this as a desktop replacement only if you hook it into a bigger, better monitor. So get the model sans-Touch and save a buck. Keyboard - great. USB's both sides - Great. Cover latch - needs 2 hands unless you're an accomplished magician. ACER email response was swift. Kudos also to Amazon - laptop arrived smashed. With no hassles they had a replacement shipped next-day based on 1 email I sent before I even returned the first one. I would definitely trust Amazon for electronics purchases, no matter what you buy.

Lots of features for the money. The touchscreen is a big bonus for me. Very fast.
My notebook also wouldn't boot some times. I found that if you go into the BIOS setup and turn OFF the quick boot setting, it works fine. I think the problem is that the computer tries to boot before the hard drive is ready. But that is just a guess. Mine has been working fine for about 4 weeks since I changed the setting. I hope this helps other owners.

I've had mine since February and I have not encountered a single solitary Hardware problem. I did not chose this Notebook because of the touch-screen (in fact I rarely have to use it at all but it is nice knowing that it is there, I would use it a lot more if this Notebook was a tablet style PC) but because the price was right and it had a pretty good and decent dedicated graphics card, an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, free integrated Webcam and Microphone, 4GB DDR3 RAM, DVD-RW drive, HD Wide-Screen, and it had a very good and sturdy looking case (and it truly does). Also because you couldn't find a better Notebook in the 5-Star range with these same features for under $1,500 anywhere else! The one and only minor issue that I see with this Notebook is that it houses a low-end Western Digital HDD. I would have gladly paid an extra $30 or so for a Scorpio Black or similar line of WD's drives that have a better track-record. THIS THING IS A POWERHOUSE! I can play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on very high settings, though not for long as it is very demanding and will eventually cause internal temperatures to spike pretty dangerously (not any fault of the system itself, all portable PC's suffer from lesser heat dissipation). However, I have never been able to play good games on any of the previous mobile computers we have owned before and so this is a definite plus. I had been a Dell fan for many years, never buying anything else... until we bought the absolutely horrid Inspiron 1525. That Laptop was why I decided to break away from the fantastically bad Dell of today forever and to opt in for Acer (that $1,200 Dell laptop fried everything twice within the first year and now the lid is threatening to fall off of the cheap plastic hinges). Needless to say, if I ever have need of another Notebook in the next decade or so I will most definitely be buying another Acer (similar to this one)! But again, it is a real shame that Acer has decided to cut this one down in it's prime... ACER, WE WANT THIS AND SIMILAR NOTEBOOKS TO THE AS5738PG-6306 IN THE FUTURE, FOR THE SAME GREAT PRICE! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND DON'T SELL OUT ON HARDWARE QUALITY FOR CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE AT MORE EXPENSIVE PRICES LIKE DELL DID! YOU GUYS ROCK, SO KEEP ON ROCKING!

Perfect size for a laptop. For traveling I would want something a bit smaller. The visuals are crisp, the touchscreen is great for playing games, scrolling though items. Easy to use, nice keyboard with full numbers on the side. It seems larger than 15.6". No problems with Window 7 (yet). Would recommend this computer...I had gone onto Consumer Reports which recommended this model in the size, and price range. The Touch screen wasn't the sell for me..but it is nice.
The shipping was awful! The computer itself was in its own box but it had been thrown into a larger box for shipping with some loose paper. It was loose, shifting I'm sure in the process. No damage though.

Aspire 5738pg-6306 is a solid computer. not the fastest but fast enough. no problems so far. the touch screen is a cool feature which I thought I would use more, but don't really. for the price, definitely a good value for an all around good computer.

great so far easy to get stuff as you want it.nice display, color calibration is cool but doesn't seem to stay adjusted but once adjusted the display is as good as a normal tv I think or better.touch pad mouse and clicker could be better. touch screen is cool I don't use it much and its not reliable for me with really tight stuff. had a good amount of bloat ware junk on it (crap ware) got that removed free online stuff. wi fi is strong. I forget what the battery was rated at but if its anywhere near 6 hours thats on dim settings for sure. I love the key board and look and style of the computer. volume could have better increments between each level but its not a problem. good weight any heavier wouldn't be good. definitly reccomend

I've waited 3 months before reviewing this Acer. The verdict is.....pure satisfaction! The touch screen is ultra sensitive and has spoiled me for non-touch conventional screens. I just love the chiclet keyboard and extra numpad. Wish the volume was greater though.
