Purchased this desktop for the better half to use to web browse, listen to music and burn DVD's. This is plenty sufficient for all those tasks. Windows 7 runs well with 4GB of RAM. Unless you're into PC gaming (and no, Facebook games don't count) or graphic design, this PC should be fine for most people. In fact, I'll be recommending this PC when my parents look to upgrade their systems.

As a side note, one of the reasons I dislike purchasing computers as opposed to building them, is all of the bloatware that manufacturers load up on them. And while this system had just as much as I expected, it was easy to remove it. I was particularly surprised at how easily it was to remove the included anti-virus software as that often times is the biggest pain.

I'd had good experience with my dual ACER monitors, so I figured I'd give them a chance and buy one of their computers. I got this to replace my Dell Zino HD media center PC which overheated. This PC is twice as speedy, and doesn't produce as much heat, so I hope it lasts longer that the Dell.

I've got this PC connected to my 46" Samsung LCD HDTV. If I set this computer to run at the highest resolution (which would be 1080p) the windows desktop goes beyond the display of the TV. So the edges of the image are cropped off. My TV doesn't offer any setting to fix this, which is frustrating. Additionally frustrating is that this higher resolution is the only one that my TV will allow adjustments on. Meaning that, if I select the next lowest resolution, the TV will not allow me to make color modifications, or turn on the 120hz option. This is a tad frustrating, but in truth, I think this is a TV issue, not a PC issue. But if you intend to connect this to a Samsung TV you might encounter similar problems.

Also, if you want to be able to install additional RAM, this IS the model you want. On the purchase page Amazon had a link for an Acer which they claimed was the newer version. It had a faster processor, and the same RAM, but it was limited to a maximum of 4GB. This PC is upgradeable to 16GB according to the Acer website. So that's a plus in my book. And while I didn't install more RAM, this was something I considered as a selling point. This is information you can really only get from copy and pasting the model number into Google and finding the link to the manufacturer page.

This is a very solid desktop for basic computing. Acer gives you your money's worth and then some. I upgraded the memory to 12GB, and it zooms. The 8 USB ports (2 are 3.0) and the card reader give you great access and adaptability.

I was ready for an upgraded computer since my Asus was 2 years old, and I also wanted to take advantage of Microsoft's deal to upgrade to Windows 8 for just $15.00 with the purchase of a new PC, which is a great deal, IMHO. The computer runs very quietly and boots up fairly fast, and once I upgrade it to the maximum memory capacity of 16GB's of working memory, I'm sure it will be even faster. I also love the much smaller form factor, as I'm used to buying 'normal' size towers

The plethora of (8) USB ports, 2 of which are USB 3.0, should be enough for most people. The included HDMI port is great for attaching to my flat panel TV, which I plan on doing in the near future. There is no built in wifi, but for the price point, you can easily add a card or USB adapter (just hope you have better luck than my initial try!).

Bottom line, I am glad I bought it and love the smaller form factor and am getting used to the vertical DVD/CD ROM drive. It has burned several DVD movies with no problem, as well as music CD's, so I'm guessing it is as stable as a regular horizontal device.

Just installed 8 more gigs of memory in this baby and its perfect. The inside was kind of tight as with most new computers these days. Don't panic if you are installing ram. Just unplug the fan and hard drive to be able to slide additional ram in the slots. I have big fingers. So far this computer is perfect for what I will be doing. Paid about 3 times more for an HP Media computer that was never used to its full capacity. With all the stuff you can now do with PS3's it doesn't make sense to pay all that money. I do wish the hard drive was bigger but maybe that too is a blessing in disguise as I plan on getting a portable drive so each family member can save and back up important docs. With a smaller hard drive it will be easier to maintain I think. Defragging and all that stuff will take less time. So far I am impressed with ACER quality as its my first ACER. I was looking at the newer version that it shows but the reviews didn't seem as good so I went with this one based on the reviews. I think now they are the same price. Not looking to add anything else but there are a couple of expansion slots should you need to. Being able to add RAM was a huge reason for buying it. More than enough computer for surfing, playing games and multi-tasking with Microsoft Office.

This machine was out of the box and up and running in a relatively short period of time. My applications include MS Office work, email, and web access for a variety of uses, so I rarely have a large amount of information continually processessing as a gamer or perhaps a designer, architect, or engineer might have. So, the speed I am experiencing is more than adequate, and I am very pleased with that speed. I bought two "CT2631952 4GB, 240-pin DIMM Upgrades for a Acer Aspire X1470 System" from Crucial.com for about $40 in anticipation of having a speed problem given the machine ships with 4GB of memory. So I have 8GB's on hand to install if I have a speed problem, but so far I haven't needed the extra memory. Keep in mind that my applications aren't that data intensive. You need to satisfy yourself that this memory is the correct memory for expanding your machine. I am convinced that it is, but as I said I have not installed it as yet. But, I have learned from experience, the time to get these kinds of upgrades is around the time that you buy the machine. Four years later, when your machine slows down, such upgrades may not be available. You never know given the speed the technology is changing.

I had a long webchat with Acer Customer Service to pin down the aforesaid memory expansion modules which was I am quite sure an international dialog and which became amusing at times with respect to repeating the question several different ways to get the point across. In the end, the tech couldn't really pin down the details of the required modules by suggested part no., but did tell me the current installed configuration and how it could be expanded. Bottom line - at least there is someone to talk to regarding service with respect to this PC.
