This review is from: Acer Aspire One AO751H-1401 11.6-Inch Netbook - White (Personal Computers)
I have seen various reviews on Netbooks. Some good and some bad on the Acer brand and others and after much research and review beginning with the reason I needed and wanted a Netbook to to reading reviews on Amazon. first of all I needed a Netbook because my Dell Inspiron 1720 (17in.) was becoming heavy and cumbersome in comparison to the reason I carry a laptop with me everywhere besides being a "geek" A friend of mine actually received their Netbook gift from Amazon and it was an 8 in Acer with a 3 cell battery. Well after seeing and trying his out I determined I definitely wanted one but I didn't want an 8 in. as the screen was too small and the keyboard wasn't full size.
So I have been to Staples, Bestbuy and other retail giants and finally after grocery shopping one day at Walmart I came across this one. So I tried it out. I found it to be very useful that it has 2GB and VISTA preloaded. It comes with a trial of Microsoft's Office suite as well as Works preloaded. So basically it does what I need to! I need to do homework and access the Internet. I think people buy these Netbooks forgetting that the intention of the invention was to access the Internet and not to run huge programs or store huge programs. I have watched streaming video and Youtube and even watched DVDs on my lil Acer. Once i deleted program I didn't need or want and cleaned up the files and bugs if you will it ran like a charm. The only problem I had was deleting the preloaded Mcaffee program but I got it done and it does run better. I would recommend this product!

After one month of use I can say that it's a fairly decent netbook, when you consider its price. The quality is again fairly good, although I have a strange feeling that you could get more quality from Asus products (I'm a former Asus Eee user, who dumped an Eee for Acer's big screen). My model came with 2 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD, Windows Vista preinstalled and 3 cells battery, that provides up to 2.5 hours of intensive use. You can summarize the pros and cons as follows: Pros: excellent screen, large and bright, visible even in direct sunlight, very comfortable keyboard (with better ergonomics that Asus Eee), plenty of storage space for a netbook (250 GB) Cons: weak Z520 processor(due to Intel's a restriction on the use of N270/N280 processors for netbooks with screens larger than 10"), unable to play HD content, no Bluetooth, potential for screen cracks with the lid closed when is very hot. If you intend to keep it only for Internet use and some word processing while you're on the go, this netbook is by far superior to anything else on the market. The screen is simply gorgeous and allows you a very comfortable view of the web pages, without any excess scrolling, as on other netbooks, the 10 inchers included. Very thin and very light for its size, it will pass almost unnoticed in your handbag while you're traveling. Delivered with Windows Vista Home Basic, plenty of unneeded software and McAfee antivirus, the system is almost unusable. In order to get the most of its power, it needs a bit of tuning, including the removal of the terrible McAfee antivirus that literally kills the machine. With some Vista tweaking (including disabling of some useless services) the netbook runs fine, and definitely better than some older full size laptops. With its 2 GB of RAM and Windows 7 I'm sure that it would perform much better. However, the worst disappointment was the netbook's inability to play any HD content, despite its 1366x768 screen. Simply any HD video (including the Youtube ones) is too much for the combination of Z520 processor / GMA500 graphics chipset - any HD video plays in the best case very choppy, although the normal MPEG2 (standard DVD content) would work fine. This situation is created by Intel's restrictions on the use of the more powerful Atom N series 1.6 GHz processors on netbooks with screens larger than 10", which led to the use of the slower Atom Z520 1.3 GHz. The most worrisome issue of this netbook, as I found it on an Acer forum is its potential for screen cracks with the lid closed when is very hot. Later the user complaints were deleted by the site administrators but it seemed to be credible. Shortly, some users described situations when the closed the lids and left the netbooks to charge overnight to find the screens cracked in the morning due to the tensions induced in the LCD by the uneven heating of the screen. It seems a plausible issue, as I noticed that the keyboard becomes very warm during the usage, posibly because of the HDD or because of the battery charging. As a precautionary measure I never leave it charge over night with the lid completely closed and after use, if is very warm, i leave it cool for a while before closing it.

I purchased the Acer Aspire One 751h-1401 and it is a great piece of art. I am very impressed with the quality and features of this Product. I purchased at Wal-Mart on special for $298.00+$20Tax, included one year parts and labor warranty. Trouble-free to set and great Key board, full size. It has a 3 cell Battery which lasted about 3.5 hours working straight on it running multi- programs. Wow, this little thing is amazing. It has all the basic programs you need to be on the go. I researched several mini net books and this one caught my eye because is 11.6" vs. 10.1" Screen. For the price you can't beat it, Acer Aspire One AO751h-1401 White 11.6 2GB 250GB 3Cell VHB 11.6" Notebook ,(Vista Home Basic) 5 in 1 digital media reader, 3 cell battery, best of all Windows Vista, most netbooks run on Win XP, which eventually will go away..... Great Product, don't wait! Run out to get yours. You will love It.!!!!!

I bought this for my wife. She decided to dump her big Dell D630 for a netbook. She tried a few 10" models but didn't like the smaller keyboards and the screen was a little small. This has a full size keyboard and the screen is just large enough. It's still very compact and light. It came with Vista Basic and I put Windows 7 on it.
The 250GB disk and 2GB ram is awesome. The 1.3 atom slows things down a bit for loading video and such, but not too much. For web/email/MS Office it's perfect for the price. The battery life is about 3-4 hours. I paid $299. Outstanding value for the money.

I have had my netbook for a few months now. I really like it. I bought the bigger size because it is more like the full size keyboard on my laptop.
I really like the way you can enlarge the screen size by using the touch pad. I'm still figuring out some stuff on it. I really only use it to surf the web, but I plan on using the built in webcam real soon to communicate with my daughter and grandson who live out of state. I guess the only thing that was frustrating about it at first was all of the pre-loaded software it came with. All of that stuff really slows it down. Fortunately, my husband is an IT specialist and cleaned off all of the extra stuff for me. It runs alot faster now. By the way, he hates Vista. He really wishes I had ordered one with XP, but I wasn't paying attention when I ordered it. All in all, it serves its purpose well. I am very pleased with it.

I just picked this little Netbook up from WalMart for $288.88 on sale/rollback. So far, I love this little thing! It is a lot faster than I anticipated, even running Vista Basic. I have movies, music, and a game on this and its running great. Go buy it!

I purchased this netbook at Walmart. White 11.6" 2GB of memory and 250GB hard drive. This unit came with windows vista. I downloaded windows 7 professional and did a clean install. What a fast little compuuter. I have also installed office 2010 beta and it runs like a charm on this Acer. I have plans of installing a 250GB SSD and will update later on this new upgrade. I know I am putting more uprades into this little netbook than the original price of $311 but what the heck.
