I don't what people are complaining about - I love my new Acer Aspire One! It's the perfect size, the screen is bright and easy to read. I don't have any problems with my wireless connection whatsoever. My only 'adjustment' has been with the home and end keys, and maybe the flat keyboard keys themselves, but then again, it's just an adjustment. I find it just as fast, if not faster, than my home computer. Maybe people complain because they've got lightening fast computers and therefore this one is slow in comparison? The only upgrade I've purchased is a compact mouse and I love the thumb/finger action to instantly resize a page, very cool. I also purchased a laptop table so I can easily work with the mouse. The battery life has been awesome, lasting me most of the day, plus it only takes a short time to recharge to full power once plugged in. Overall, I love it!!

I bought these netbook just primarily for its screen size and thinking that 2 gb ram memory and and new processor will boost it in a decent way but just after installing offices (it's ridicules i have to install the whole standard office just to use the outlook) I started to see the medium performance, specially if you are browsing the net, editing small excel file and getting/sending emails from outlook. Maybe you guys are thinking hey dude go a get a laptop... but what the he... What can I expect from a $390 netbook. Battery lives looks fine so far.

Love this computer for school. Handy for note taking. Could be a bit faster, and the power cords seem to be touchy. Mine is broken, and my friend who has an earlier model's power cord also stopped working.

I'll keep it simple. We wanted a little netbook to primarily to use while sitting in front of the TV or while we traveled. This was the perfect purchase for us. Most of our activities on this little guy is surfing the internet, but from time to time we will watch a movie or listen to music while on a plane.
The screen size is great. The battery is unbelievable. Connecting to the internet and home network was a snap. We highly recommend this netbook to anyone that wants a great value while keeping the cost low.

OK, I was worried about speed running Vista on a 1.3mhz processor but with the 2gb memory is runs just fine for the surfing and MS 2007 Word the machine is used for.
Awesome battery life! Readable screen - the 10 inch models are just a little to small for me. One problem when the machine arrived the charger did not work. Customer Service was great and FAST - turned out it was the last item we looked - the power cord - which was unbelievable but that is what it was. I had never owned an ACER but based on their customer service I would NOT hesitate to buy another.

This computer is great, within the scope of its intended use. It loads up quickly, it opens programs like Google Chrome, and Open Office Writer as quickly as any computer. Once you remove some of the useless programs, and bloat-ware this little computer is a work-horse.
250GB Hard-drive: With the 250GB hard-drive I am using this netbook to process and store my pictures. The hard-drive gets a 5.4 on the Windows Experience Index. I haven't tried to run Photoshop or something like that off of it, but is perfect for saving, and sorting your images straight from the memory card of your camera. Which leads me to my next point, the screen. 1366x768, 11.6" LED LCD, HD Screen: The size of the screen makes it very easy to work with, especially given the zoom features on the multi-gesture touch pad. It is large enough to watch youtube at its native size, and HD size. The screen is bright, visible in daylight and the resolution is awesome. Due to the large netbook screen Acer was able to accommodate a fullsize key board. Multi-Gesture Touch pad: Although I have already mentioned one benefit of the touch pad, it actually has three great features. The previously stated feature was the zoom feature, due to the size of the screen, even though it is quite large, you are able to flick your fingers apart on the touch pad and it will zoom in and bring them together zooms out. With two fingers you can scroll horizontally, and with one finger you can move it in a circular motion to scroll up and down a page without having to let go. The touchpad is also a great size, it is not as tiny as I have seen on many other netbooks, I haven't noticed a size difference from my fullsize laptop to this one. Full size keyboard: Although the keys are full size, not all the buttons are exactly the size and located in the places they are in a desktop keyboard. The good news is that there is a tiny learning curve, I haven't actually had to concentrate on working the keyboard. Another nice thing about the keyboard is what I think is referred to as "chiclet keys." They are like the keys on a Mac, and this makes them very easy to clean. The keys also have a nice amount of space between them so as to make it easier to to type. Battery Life: At high performance, I can pull about 8 hours out of it according to the meter with the wireless on. On power saver I can get more than 9 hours on it, with the wireless on. The netbook charges pretty fast too. On battery life, this netbooks excels given the huge hard drive, the 2 gigs of ram, and the big screen. This laptop comes with a 6 cell battery, that is a must if you want decent battery life. Some other cheaper netbooks have a 3 cell, and they only get about 3-4hrs per charge. Look out for the 9 cell when they come out. Atom Z520 1.33ghz: The weakest point in terms of performance but a strong point in terms of efficiency. This is the latest processor for the netbooks, it works with less electricity than other processors. It gets a 1.9 in the Windows Experience Index. If you think this isn't enough, overclock to 1.7ghz which I think is the limit with this processor. If you choose to go that route, there is plenty of information out there. Ram: Lots of it, 2 gigs, more than you need for a netbook, but its there. The ram gets a 4.1 score in the Windows Experience Index. Nice to have since you are running Vista with this machine. Graphics: The graphics are great, I have not complaints. The graphics gets a 2.9 on the Windows Experience Index, and 3.1 for gaming graphics. I am probably missing a few nice points of this laptop but here are other features that come with this laptop are 3 USB port, a VGA output, an Ultra Thin design, WiFi, Bluetooth, memory card slot, and a small power adapter. It comes with Vista, which is great for security, and runs solid even if people love to hate the latest OS. Vista is also great because it is an easy upgrade to Windows 7. The laptop comes a program called eSobi v2, which I have fallen in love with for keeping track of news. Vista comes with an email program, and a nice calendar system too. Other notes: I would definitely recommend Google Chrome, and Open Office, both free, and both very good. You should also switch the settings on Vista to "Best Performance," it will look kinda plain but the performance is better. Generally, look around online and learn how to tweak all your settings to get the most out of you laptop (unlike other reviewers which expect it to meet their every need instantly, and with out any work on their part). Make sure you install all the updates from Microsoft. Comment on this review with any questions, I'll check back every now and then. I will update my review as time goes on, I have only had the laptop for 3 weeks.

the most inefficient computer I have ever seen..,

If you are looking for even an average computer stay away from this one. It needs 19 seconds to open an excell and 10 seconds to open any web browser while no application is on at that moment. It freezes 3-4 times a day (assuming 8 hours usage per day). Another illustrative example is that, you can use it for only text chatting, if the audio and/or video is open, processor goes 100 % performance and you can only wait unless you get frustrated and reset it.
Now I am returning it to amazon.com with a 15 % loss but it relly worth this!!

Such High Hopes,
By Computer User (Oregon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Acer Aspire One AO751h-1273 11.6-Inch White Netbook - 8 Hour Battery Life (Personal Computers)
I had such high hopes. This computer fails (90%of the time)to connect to any wireless connection even when in the same room as the modem. If it does connect (remaining 10% of the time) the computer takes at least five minutes (seriouisly) to connect to the web page. Then it takes a long time for web pages to display. I have used this computer in several different locations and always get the same result. This computer has Windows Vista and the Acer information lists this model as eligible for the free up grade to Windows 7, but once requested information is entered into the site to get the upgrade, the site says the model is not eligible. The computer has been powered on less than 10 times since purchased (36 days ago), and EACH time after Turn Off Computer there have been upgrades to be downloaded, three times ago it was 8, two times ago it was 12, and today 18. I just wanted to turn off the computer to leave and had to wait for the upgrades; taking up to 30 minutes to install then to initialize! I am attempting to return this product for a full refund. I am very, very disappointed. One good thing: the battery did last a very long time.

Beautiful Paperweight,
This review is from: Acer Aspire One AO751h-1273 11.6-Inch White Netbook - 8 Hour Battery Life (Personal Computers)
The performance of this machine is atrocious. Attempting to run Windows Vista for the operating system and McAfee anti-virus software on such a small/slow processor is ridiculous. It is initially configured for automatic updates and it takes an incredibly large amount of time downloading and installing all of the updates. One of the updates appears to critically harm the wireless networking device driver/hardware. Even after restoring to a previous save point, removing McAfee and removing most of the unnecessary software loaded at startup, it still takes a significant amount of time (5-10 minutes) after boot before Vista calms down enough to 'allow' a web page to be loaded normally. This would be such a great machine if it only had a better processor (instead of the downgrade to the Z520) and it ran a smaller/better operating system. The size of this netbook is perfect in my opinion. Big enough to feel like a laptop but small enough to take with you anywhere, anytime. The battery life appears to be very good. I just wish you could really use it without the frustrations.
