To many previous reviewers: Microsoft won't legally allow them to put XP on it (or any other manufacturer of a netbook that is capable of running Vista). Do some research. That doesn't stop you from installing XP yourself, though. Or Linux. Or wait another month and go with Windows 7.

I like this netbook a lot. The screen and keyboard are big and comfortable enough to use without driving me nuts. That's amazing at this price point! When you factor in 2GB memory, the nice size hard drive and the LOOOOOONG battery life you come up with a heck of a machine for $330.

Drawbacks: It has no CD/DVD drive (how many netbooks do?) but you can get an external drive pretty cheap or network your desktop drive for free. The HDD is 5400rpm which slows things down but a faster drive would eat up more power. A solid-state HD would be great but would double the price of this thing. It still gets five stars from me.

NOTE: much of the slow performance that people are experiencing is due to the cr*pware that comes pre-installed (and no, I'm not talking about Vista ;) Get rid of EVERYTHING except the OS and the apps you use (check out "PC decrapifier"). Then install Avast or AVG, maybe spybot or spyware blaster and you'll be shocked at how much better it runs.

If you are like me that does not like a bulky piece of equipment to carry arround, you will low this acer because it has a very fast processor, the size of the screen is just right and the keyboard is not too small that you can't fit your fingers.
Also has blue tooth witch allows you to connect a mouse and not use up a usb port, because you might need it for a external dvd drive.
To conclude next time I buy a laptop, my business is Acer's guaranteed.

Great machine. Best bang for the buck. Size is perfect for backpack/school pack. Screen and keyboard size - excellent, not too small. Bright screen. No sweat battery life. Should come with Vista Home Premium, less bloat ware. Rating is actually 4.9

This thing is terrible. I needed it only for light word processing (paper writing, the odd Excel spreadsheet) and net surfing, and I thought that it would be perfect - light enough to carry easily, enough RAM to be able to do what I needed in spite of Vista, good screen size.

What I got instead is so slow as to be almost unusable for my needs. I type more quickly than it does, so I frequently have up to a two-line lag between the text that's showing on the screen and what I'm typing. It does not like switching between windows, so if I'm trying to get information from another document to put into the one I'm working on it takes forever.

Basically, it's taking me about twice as long to get basic work done.

This thing is going back to Amazon. It is worth the 15% restocking fee to be rid of it.

This is my second machine. The first was sent back because of its system crashes.... outright freezes reminiscent of pre-XP Windows. Replacement does much better. Crashes tend to be no more than every three hours, so I save after every sentence. Still, time is lost in the reboot process, which takes somewhere around 5 minutes or maybe more. For someone who works for hours on end with the machine, this provides an unwelcome, but sometimes useful break.

Crashes occur with the most simple programs... all of the MS Office Suite programs. If you use a browser other than IE, frequency of crashes increases (Chrome, Safari, Opera). Have taken off everything from the start menu that is really not necessary and it has made no difference.

Nonetheless, this machine can be worked with if you are prepared to hit a "control-F/S" very frequently. Incredibly convenient for travel and works just fine for internet, so long as little else is in RAM.

As for Acer and the usefulness of their technical support... they know one answer... system restore. Sorry. This problem is much more fundamental than that. I tolerate the machine, but would not recommend it to anyone. Will be a customer for the next advance in Netbooks, but not from Acer.

Neat little machine. Lots of great features - extremely lightweight...I have to check my bag periodically to ensure that I still have it. large screen - no issues with video playback, bluetooth...rare on netbooks for this price, long battery life...charge overnight like a cellphone and use all day. Even the protruding battery is useful for grip. large hdd...250GB, Overall...Great deal for the price.
only major drawback is Vista, I solved that easily by installing XP and dual booting Ubuntu...funny enough it works better in XP than Ubuntu (go figure).
Warning: It is so good that i no longer use it... It fits nicely in my girlfriend's handbag so she has taken it over. I should have bought 2.

It's a great netbook, good screen and keyboard... The battery is the best, you can stay almost 8 hours using it... great for long time flights... Comparing with my last netbook, Windows Vista made this new one slower than my Acer 10,2 1GB RAM with Windows XP... I think Acer should offer 751H with XP options... It will be the BEST.

Excelent netbook for somebody that is looking for mobility and quickly to access internet on everywhere.

FThis netbook is fabulous! Fast,excellent screen clarity.more than enough memory,at 2gb and storage capacity,250 gigs. The only downside is the Vista Basic,changed it to XP and runs much better. This is the netboook for you!

Excelent product, I've change the OS to Windows XP (download drivers from Acer website) and it works even better. Battery long 8 hours. Totally portable and practical. Recomended 100%.
